US Airways Dividend Miles (Pre-FlightFund Merger) - Hmm.. do Upgrades apply to partner airlines?

Hey all!

I've got to go to Naples, Italy. I can fly to Rome direct from PHL and then fight murderous Italian traffic for hours and hours, or fly into Naples.

To get to Naples I have to connect on a BA flight for the last leg. (PHL/LGW/NAP). What I'm trying to find out is if I burn the miles or use a SWU does that carry over to the partner airline or not?

For obvious reasons I'm praying it does. the 737-400 from LGW to NAP is usually so packed with tourists it's like a clown car.

As always, I'm flying on full fare Y class tickets.

Regards,

Why not fly US to CDG and then AF to NAP. The CDG-NAP leg is slightly shorter than the LGW-NAP flight.

You could also do US to FCO and then switch to AZ for the FCO-NAP leg.

Both seem to make more sense to me than flying to LGW and switching but I guess it all depends on where you're starting from.

Upgrades only on US. Definitely consider flying into FCO for the longer A330 experience.

Intra European flights normaly only have a Business Class, which is just about the same as Coach. Thy try to leave the middle seat open, but often can't. The meal is slightly better, although on BA, I'd rather get something in the terminal. What they do is basically what the dreaded USAirways "Business Select" used to do, and you will recall how much everyone liked that one.

If I were headed to Naples, I'd fly US on the A330 to FCO and then take the train. Easy.

Bouncer,

In December we flew to LGW and then onwards on BA to Pisa, Italy. Check-in at LGW for BA had huge lines. We were in the queue for over an hour. Even then we were late and finally had to be pulled out of the queue for check-in. You could hope for that or if you are not checking any bags, I would advise you to get an eticket on BA. That way you can use a kiosk to check-in. As geo said you could take a train to Naples from Rome. There are several trains from Rome to Naples. However, the fast ones Eurostar or InterCity require reservations. The trains are usually packed. If you don't get a seat reserved, you could get sit in the Dining car (after ordering something token).

Sandeep.
