geo1004's prediction:
1. US files to the Air Transportation Stabilization Board for a govt. loan.
2. ATSB will demand lower labor costs.
3. US will re-negotiate labor contracts.
4. Labor unions will fight for every penny, thus ensuring US retains its high costs.
5. US will limp along tetering on the brink of bankruptcy as it has...

Does anyone know how the US cost structure compares to the other majors? How does this compare to the labor cost structure of SW?
Thanks for the info

It will be once they file their 10-Q. That should be early to mid May.

Off the top of my head, it's 12 cents CASM (cost per available seat mile) for US and 7 cents for WN. Huge difference.
While they both fly similar length routes, most US routes are in the Northeast, where it is more expensive and delay-prone than in the West. But it's not doubly expensive.
