US Airways Dividend Miles (Pre-FlightFund Merger) - LAX-Charlotte-SJU connection time questions

(I did try a search, but nothing came up.)

I have booked my wheelchair bound mother-in-law the following:
#622 LAX to CLT departs 11:40p.m. arrives 7:09a.m.
then connects #1919 CLT departs 7:55a.m. to SJU

1. assuming Lax-CLT is on time, with her in wheelchair, does she have enough time to connect? (only 45 min.)
2. how far apart are the above flights' arrival and departure gates?

Thanks in advance for your responses.

Belle,

Normally, 45 minutes would do the trick, BUT, she'll be the last one off the plane which will cut it significantly by the time they deplane a transcon.. US has gates in every concourse at CLT.. so it's hard to know unless they've made gate assignments how close you're really cutting it.. but if you involve special services, I'd think it will be OK.. they'll probably put her on the golf cart thingy to get her to the next gate, no?

On the other hand, remember that red-eyes are often early - sometimes up to 30 minutes early. So, your cushion may very well be larger than you think.

45 Minutes should be more than enough. Both flights will arrive/depart from Concourse B in CLT. How do I know? Concourse B handles all Airbus and 757/767, while Concourse C is relegated to 737 aircraft only now that MD-80 and F100 gone. The maximum walk between the furthest points in B is about 3 minutes.

Actually Concourse C does have some of the 320 family flying out of it (for example, some of the DCA flights flying out of the dedicated DCA gate on C) and the London flight (when a 767) has been flying out of C a lot. So, there's more of a mix beyond the 737s.

But, the schedule shows that (at least this weekend) the LAX flight and SJU flight will both be on B - so won't be too far and should be able to make it if the flight in from LAX is on time (or even a little bit late). Check with US to make sure before departure. Make sure US knows about your mother-in-law's needs so they can have an Electricart avaiable, or assistance.

They must have made some changes to the jetways since I was connecting through there in late December. I was on 622 connecting to a PBI flight. We were 90 minutes late arriving, and then had to wait another 35 mins for a gate for our 321. Needless to say, over 1/2 the plane missed connections. During my wait I bumped into the director of Concourse C and she explained the aircraft set-up at the time. Guess with the MD80's and F100's gone they had to make adjustments.
