Another stay at another Kimpton. This time the FireSky Resort in Scottsdale Arizona for a 2-night stay. Rate was on the promotion page for Kimpton and was excellent promo rate for the weekend. The fact that I was somewhere where I could feel my fingers and toes for the first time in 3 weeks was a bonus! ;)
The grounds for the property are lovely. Manicured lawns, lovely pools, water coming out of the fire cauldrons, just picture perfect.
Check-In. Excellent. Front-desk person should be cloned to every other hotel - warm, friendly, professional, just NICE in every way. Provided acknolwedgement of me being Inner Circle, gave me a coupon for $ off at the spa, and every time my travel partner and I went through the lobby she greeted us like we were all long lost friends. Absolutely perfect.
Room - VERY large room. Bathroom has a step-in shower that is separate from the sink and vanity area. Mini-bar was stocked very well; one of the times I wish that they would adopt the "Andaz" way of doing things - free non-alcoholic drinks. But they charge for everything.
42" Flat screen TV on top of the dresser. Separate desk/chair, chaise, and king-sized bed. Patio with two chairs and table outside of the sliding doors. They face onto the pool and grounds.
Free internet available which worked consistently (for Inner Circle members it is free; otherwise it is $9.95 per day).
Had breakfast in the restaurant. I had French Toast with fresh berries. It was excellent. Service was superb.
Had spa treatments. The spa was "interesting." Different offerings. The spa needs to get a locker room, sauna, meditation room, etc. Right now they offer service rooms and they are limited in number.
There was an Escalade that was available for free drop-off/pick-up service within 3 miles of the hotel. Used this to go to a restaurant one night. Service and driver were excellent. Such a nice treat to not have to drive or get a cab.
Amenity was sent to my room consisting of a bottle of water, an Arizona Iced tea, fruit, 3 little trays including malted milk balls, Swedish fish, and nuts (almonds, cashews, etc.).
Overall this was a very nice stay. There are a few things the hotel could do to improve e.g., STOP the music at 8 AM on a SATURDAY and the leaf blower on SATURDAY and SUNDAY at 8 AM (when I called to let the manager know, she had it STOPPED immediately - impressive). The soundproofing could definitely be improved somewhat. The staff was really one of the best I have encountered at a hotel in the last 3 months.
