Note, this special also includes a deal at the Our Lucaya resort for $198 per person for three nights (double occupancy) for an Ocean View in Breakers Cay, which looks like a pretty good deal compared to the regular rates.

Anyone have any personal experience with this resort?

I've booked my tickets already ... just looking for the hotel now.

This is a pretty good deal since they don't restrict your day of travel. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I was able to get my reservation at the hotel after being on hold for 55 minutes. There was a recording on the hold message that said response to the US Airways promotion has been overwhelming (it also took me about 30 tries to get past the busy signal to even get on hold).

The Agent I finally talked too said they sold out the rooms set aside for the promo, but the reloaded more during the day (that was mighty good of them, I was worried they would be sold out!). The room you get has a regular rate (if you try and reserve it on their website) of $300/night, so $396 for three nights is a steal, and on top of that, the guy tells me they'll give you the fourth night free, so it's $396 for four nights!

From the website it looks like a typical oversized resert ... they're running TV ads here in Charlotte now for the resort too.

Oversized it may be (personally, resorts are not necessarily my idea of "fun"), but the prices are exceptional. They also seem to be the main Priceline.com resort in the area. I've seen BiddingForTravel.com (Priceline tattletale) quotes at half the (low) US Airways rate.

Just to update this old thread. We just got back yesterday and we were extremely impressed with the Our Lucaya (http://www.ourlucaya.com/) resort. It was much nicer than I expected, which is always a pleasant surprise. We stayed in the Breakers Cay, which is their "mid-tier" section (I'd avoid the low tier, whose name escapes me, but didn't look nearly as nice from what we were able to see, and I imagine the Lighthouse Pointe, the upper tier must be pretty nice!). Very clean, huge room, nice furnishings, excellent amenities in the room, huge patio with two chairs and a table. Definitely go for oceanview (we actually had an end unit only on the 2nd floor, but we could see the ocean and it was actually fairly entertaining sitting on the patio at night watching all the spring breakers and such).

For the $132/night (plus $6/person resort fee + 12% tax) we were paying, it was an incredible deal. The restraunts though are very expensive, so be ready for that (but they are better than most of the stuff available elsewhere on the island, except as discussed below).

We also went out to West End and checked out the Old Bahama Bay (http://www.oldbahamabay.com/resort/inntroduction.htm). This place is very nice too, and if you are looking for a quiet vacation, this is the way to go. We ate at the one restraunt here and it was very good and fairly reasonably priced.

Another restraunt to be sure to hit is the Ferry House, which is right beside Our Lucaya.

The US flights were fine, and surprisingly FC was not full coming or going (came Friday and left on Monday) from the Island.

I too took advantage of some great rates on US Air and Our Lucaya. I agree w/ Beckles- The resort is very nice and clean. We paid a little higher rate ($160 a night, but the deal we had was - stay 3 nights and pay for 2) for a ocean view at Breakers Cay, and stayed three nights. The only problem is the check in proceedures at Our Lucaya. Extremely slow!!!!- But we were upgraded to the 10th floor and had access to the Harbourview club. Club was a good time. Great staff -- open from 7am to 10pm- Breakfast in the morning - afternoon snacks -cocktails for two hours at night, and free beer, soda, water all day. Golf was very good (although my game was not) playes twice and finished 18 in about 3 1/2 hours each time. Also- first class on US out of LGA- on the way down was just my wife and I and on the way back there was only one other person in first. I'd go back

The water was fine, maybe a tad on the chilly side, but fine during the day when the sun was out.
