US Airways is showing a bunch of cancelled flights going to PHL as far out as March 5th...
I'm trying to get to LGW from ORF and am seeing no flights to get me to PHL to continue to LGW. I *really* don't want to fly through CLT and the crappy 767.
Anyone have an idea what's going on?

Donno....Consider a double connect through BWI or DCA.

I think their res system may be hosed. I can book the cancelled or full flights direct without a problem. I cannot book these exact same flights as part of a larger itinerary.
Very odd.

Bouncer, the seat inventory is also a function of origin/destination, not just the individual flight. The reasons are the no-show factor may be greater for the non-stop than the connecting flight, and US may want to hold the few remaining seats for sale to buyers of non-stop tickets (presumably for a higher fare).

All I can say is that apparently the ENTIRE A330 is booked. Only thing available is FC or J.
Dunno if that's good or bad, frankly.

It's gettin flaky out there.
The TA flights from PHL and CLT are showing COMPLETELY booked in all but FC and J from March 5 - March 9th. Is there some major holiday? Every other airline I check has plenty of seats.
Which brings up my next question I guess. When you can't fly US Airways in Y class TA, who do you fly? Seat space is more important to me than electronic doodads.

AA had More Room Through Coach and UA has Economy Plus (but not through the entire aircraft).

Apparently US has been going nuts in terms of TA bookings recently from what I've been told.
This seems confirmed by the fact that US Airways has had one Transatlantic e-saver since the first of the year - to AMS back in January. Seems typical in that if there was ever an e-saver city, AMS is usually it (or FRA).
In fact, the international e-saver cities have mostly been caribbean cities - SJU one week, BGI another week, CZM yet another week. Strangely, I saw an international e-saver for Toronto and Montreal last week. I guess you can call them international....

I have been watching inventory on ITN for CLT-LGW on between those dates for several weeks now... about 2 weeks ago CLT-LGW on 3/6 in Y was completely sold out, and then the next day ITN was showing at least 7 seats in Y. Last night after I read your posts, I saw 1 seat in Y was available... now 0 seats are available... so my advice is to watch inventory closely on ITN as it seems to fluctuate greatly on the TA flights...
just checked again, and CLT-LGW on 3/5 has 2 seats now available in Y...
checked again 2 mins later, CLT-LGW on 3/5 now has only 1 seat available in Y... talk about fluctuation...

Just to confirm your observation: I am booked from PHL-LGW and LGW-PHL on 2/27 and 3/4 (US #126 and US #99 respectively) with Boston danglers. Both flights are booked solid in coach, and have been for two weeks. Every once in a while a few seats will open up, but they vanish pretty quickly. Check out ITN. It's alphabet soup with zero suffixes.
Giving something back: I have seen a few references here to "calling the day before" for upgrade purposes, but the reasons were never fully clear to me. Since I am seeing some angst in adjacent threads over "will my upgrade clear?" I will humbly share my experience.
-Booked my flight over a month ago. Booked "K" because there was some confusion over whether "V" was eligible with the old DMUYSYS coupons. As it turned out, "V" was eligible, but no big deal, only paid another $20. $257+ RT to London. Such a deal.
-Tried to upgrade with DMUSYS. No go. Wait listed. Started biting fingernails.
-Called a US Gold reservations a week ago. Wait list had not cleared. I asked where I was on the wait list. She started tap dancing i.e. "that is difficult to say, since US1's have priority over you..." This I knew. So I charmed, and asked if she could tell me how many were on the wait list. She chirped "Sure! There are 22 waitlisted." I asked her how many seats were still available in Envoy. She responded "13". I was crestfallen. Incidently, this coincided exactly with the number of seats available on the www.itn.net (http://www.itn.net) seating chart (does that mean that the seating chart is actually a good indicator?!).
-Pay attention, this is the important part. I called today (for tomorrow's flight), vaguely recalling something someone said about calling the day before. The gentleman advised me that I still hadn't cleared the wait list, but, wait!, "they" will sometimes clear waitlist individuals the day before if there are more than ten (10) Envoy seats available. He excused himself, and put me on hold. This stressed me out bigtime, so I poured myself a Scotch. Would I make the cut? The tension was excrutiating. Within a couple of minutes he returned, apologizing. He started clattering on the keyboard, increasing the stress. "Mr. ATC?" I couldn't take it anymore. I waited... "There is no problem, you are cleared for Envoy!"
Pulling it all together: I finally have something firsthand to contribute to this group. Upgrading to Envoy for trans-Atlantic using SWU's? Call the day before.
