My wife and I are taking a short trip from BOS to San Juan (SLU) in April. She is on an award ticket in first class and I bought a ticket. I called to upgrade my ticket using miles and was able to be confirmed for two of the four flight legs and was waitlisted for the other two. However, ITN shows 7G seats available for for those two flights for which I am waitlisted. Shouldn't I be able to have those seats? Aren't all the first class upgrades from coupons and miles taken from the "G" inventory? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Awards are D class. Upgrades from discount fares are G class. Upgrades from full fares are I class. If itn shows G7, you should be able to use a US20 to upgrade.

Yeah, unless we're missing something basic (or ITN is showing old data), you should try calling again. That's rule number one: if you dont get the answer you want the first time, call back.

ITN is still showing 7G seats but when I call USAirways, they say that there is no availibility in "G" but there are still "F" seats and that I should clear the waitlist. I'm not sure how they can know this two months out but I'll keep my fingers crossed. I'll guess I'll keep trying every so often to see if something comes up. Looks like ITN may have old/incorrect information.

Just curious......is ITN showing the new "I" inventory? If it is showing G7, but doesn't include "I" then I would imagine that there are only F,I,A,D available. JMTCW

I believe ITN now shows, in order, F I A G. I could check but am too lazy ...

ITN shows F7 I7 A7 G7 Y7 B7 M7 K6 H7 Q0 V0 for one of my flights and F7 I7 A7 G7 Y7 B7 M7 K7 H7 Q7 V0 for the other flight that USAir claims has no upgrade seats available using miles. From what I can tell, there are 7 available on each of the flights. Perhaps ITN is not up-to-date or accurate in this case? Thanks for your input so far.

There are at least 7. My experience on craft with 12 F seats is that 9 are G upgradeable.
