US Airways Dividend Miles (Pre-FlightFund Merger) - Domestic A330

Anyone know if the A330 is being used on domestic runs now ? I know SJU was a popular use of the aircraft, and I believe I saw one in Charlotte last weekend on this trip.

PHL-SJU still has one A330 a day during the week; two a day on Sat and Sun.

Last Winter it ran PHL-MIA, too. On the flight back it was #2, with a continuation to Rome. That way people in MIA wanting to fly to FCO could do it on one plane. But now that they have been able to divert more 757s, 767s and A321s to the FL market in the Winter/Cruise season, there is probably less need for a 330, capacity wise.

It would be nice to see it on a transcon, but I know the US facilities at LAX aren't big enough to handle it. Not sure about SAN, SFO or SEA.

There are only 9 of these birds, though, and plenty of Europe routes that it serves better.

There's plenty of room at SEA since they use the South Satellite which is the international arrivals terminal (when I left yesterday there was a 747, 777, and DC-10's galore at the terminal).

Anyhoo... the BA 747 uses gate S10, so I'm sure US could fit a 330 in there.

There's room at SFO because US handles the DC10s and 767s for Hawaiian. I don't think SFO load would be enough to call for A330 service though.

SFOJFK - I think you're right. US has cut back the hub flights to SFO down to 3 a day. Pretty sure there used to be 5 from PIT alone.

Is this a seasonal issue?

SAN gets 3 PIT, 2 PHL and 1 or 2 CLT during winter but often gets 4 PIT, 3 PHL, and 3 CLT in summer.

Could be seasonal - we wont know for a few more months - but anecdotally I have noticed the PIT-SFO flights being pretty full. My latest flight will be next weekend, just bought ticket, and couldnt get seat assigned via web - had to call CP liaison to do that.

Another 'proof', btw, that Preferreds guest no special treatment on US website.
