Is it politically or legally correct for a security screener of the opposite sex perform a manual search without the passengers consent or is it alleging sexual harrassment?

I know some of you males snicker, some women agree, but some males, including myself don't like being groped either. I did file a complaint after I asked for a same sex screener but was denied. No answer yet. Is there a double standard? Or recourse? Some airports support my claim, some do not...what is the policy/legal standing here?

I don't see how this is US specific, but I have always wondered if it is possible to request an opposite sex screener?

According to a report I saw on one of the networks a few days ago, you can request a same sex screener and they are supposed to screen you with the backs of their hands but training, lack of knowledge, etc doesn't mean they follow the rules. I think the report said to complain to the TSA about abuses.

so far, my experience has been like the cell phone ad "can you hear me now.. can you hear me now"?

"Can I touch you here? Can I touch you here?" - whether by male or female. I told one guy he could touch me wherever he liked if he'd just hurry it up - I had 15 minutes to make the gate. He didn't crack a smile.. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
