Of course I'm flying 1-3 days too early and one fare class too cheap.
I think this will be the first time in over a year I will not get at least double miles (in addition to the elite bonus). Thank you Starwood and AMEX.

Me too.. Seems like the amount of promotions have fallen off the map. Is US trying to cut back?

This is a match to the Delta offer, but not as good as the Delta offer.
Delta is giving double miles on ALL fares, and select higher fares count for elite status. So benefiting all travelers, with extra benefit for the higher revenue pax.

Eh, I'm usually on the PHL to FRA run or PHL to LGW, so I'd rather get the miles from US air. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif The Envoy on an A330 is about as good as it gets on a US carrier.

The way I read it is that it is on all fares and only the listed fares count towards elite <i>also</i>.

Beckles,
I think you are correct that it is all fares and "the" double miles are preferred for some fares. Now I'm really mad my wife didn't want to go to London in March - and we were confirmed in Envoy!!!!!

Yes, I agree with Beckles.
If you look at the fine print:
Offer is applicable on all paid flights on US Airways, US Airways Shuttle or the US Airways Express carriers.Double mile offer will only count towards 2002 Preferred Miles for tickets purchased in F/A/J/C/Y/B/M fare classes.

I usually don't pay for fares that would qualify for the double preferred miles, but the extra miles are nice none the less.
For those of us going to the LON pub crawl, this just sweetens the pot. There is already an existing promotion (http://www.usairways.com/dividendmiles/4743.htm) that gives you a minimum of 5,000 bonus miles for any European RT thru 2/28/02 (note 'V' fare basis does not qualify for this, but 'K' does)

I stand corrected. I just read the first paragraph, which is more ambiguous than the terms and conditions.

Just my luck. US decides to end one double miles promo on 12/15 and offer a 2nd on 1/10 and I conveniently nest my trip to Rome right in the middle. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/rolleyes.gif
I guess I'll have to do a mile run before 3/20. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

This is now in the Official Bonus Code Thread. Also, the terms now read, "Offer is applicable on all paid flights on US Airways, US Airways Shuttle or the US Airways Express carriers. "

Does this wind up actually meaning triple miles??
8145 = double miles
8943 = double miles
One thing is clear, the folks at Dividend Miles have been watching us and have been randomizing the offer codes.....

The first paragraph is vague, but I parsed it as "double miles on all flights, credit towards preferred on certain fares". The fine print would seem to back that up.
Perfect timing, too -- I leave for Orlando on the 10th. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

What is bonus #8943? It's not listed in the newly edited bonus forum or anywhere else I can find. I tried entering the number anyway and got an invalid response.

Also, looks like only bonus miles to/from BOS/LGA/DCA not double miles..

When buying a ticket on the USAIR website, how do you find what the fare class is?

Depends on how you're buying it. If you go through "My Travel Dates are Flexible," there's a link at the right that says Rules. If you're buying via "My Travel Dates are Set," the first point at which it knows your fare class is when it actually quotes a fare. There'll be either a "Rules" link or an "i" information icon, and that's where you go to find out.

How about some help over here.....In addition to being a US Gold/Silver Res Rep I am also a (non preferred) DM member. I am in the Orlando res office and thinking of trying to pick up those 20k bonus and I am wondering from all you pros can I also earn the double miles as well. I was going to book 5 one way tickets (online) MIA-TPA back and forth at about 42.00 ea so I can earn another free ticket and forget about all that non rev/ standby stuff when I travel out west. What do you think?

The first rule of frequent flying:
- Never board an aircraft unless you're earning Q miles.
The 1st corrollary to the 1st rule:
- "Free" tickets are for giving away to others.
(Yes, I recently broke these rules in rather spectacular fashion... trust me, it's a bad idea.)

Has anyone benefited from the new 2x preferred miles bonus?
Curious whether the usual 50% F bonus is trumped by this, or if you get the usual 50% class of service preferred miles bonus PLUS the additional 'double preferred miles'

Bonus doesn't start until Jan 10.

You can still get the 50% first class/envoy class bonus in addition to this.
I've got some Y fare transcons on my horizon. I'm not unhappy about this offer.
