US Airways Dividend Miles (Pre-FlightFund Merger) - Award availability from SEA
I currently have 17k orphaned miles in my US account and am trying to decide if it's worth it to top off my account to at least 25k so I could redeem a domestic award ticket. How difficult is it to redeem awards from SEA?
I may decide to go for Silver in 2002 as I may be relocated to the east coast for work, but that's a separate issue.

Should be quite easy outside of cruise season (June-Sept). Many flights, using larger aircraft. USAirways primarily carries east coast people out and back. Plan your travel around that. They travel more heavily east to west at the start of the week, and conversely, head back Thursdays and Fridays. You just do the reverse.

Domestic award off peak at 20k are valid from Sept 15 to Feb 28.
Also the schedule for the next few months
the flights to/from SEA are on A319 aircraft seating 12/108.

I'd assume that the 321 would have a larger award inventory.

Depending on the class of service you are looking for, 321's have 26 in First, 320's have 16. In the case of SEA-PIT, only the redeye is a 319. Regardless, award seats in either class should be available until the peak Summer season, especially if you watch your days of the week.

I have had better luck getting tickets out of SEA (for myself) than into SEA (for my fiancee, who is going to school on the east coast). A lot of times i have called well in advance for tickets i knew the dates of (things like going home for xmas and spring break), and that certainly helps, as i have almost never had a problem with that.
