US Airways Dividend Miles (Pre-FlightFund Merger) - SWU´s for challenge?

I am new to the Us Airways board and doesn´t know anything about the program so my questions sounds perhaps a little dumb but will I get SWU´s if I make Gold through the challenge?
When would Gold expire?
After not reaching Gold again will I be downgraded To Silver or to nothing?
Will all fares qualify? I think about a consolidator fare out of FRA.
Which routing would credit me 12,500 miles with just one rt?
I hope that you can help me!
Thanks in advance!

Hi Tim,
Welcome to the USAir board. I'll try to answer your questions.
-Yes, you will get SWU upgrades if you complete the Gold Challange. Based on previous years' experience; if you complete the challenge by about 12/10, you will receive a Gold kit this year (with 2 SWU's) and another set in the spring. If you complete after 12/10, you will only get the set in the spring.
-status earned now through the challenge will be good through 2/28/03
-if you fail to renew Gold status in 2002, you will probably be downgraded to Silver, but still receive a another set of 2 SWU's on 3/1/03
-I don't know if consolidator fares will be good for credit for the challenge. Typically, all published fares and e-savers should count towards the challenge. I priced out FRA-PHL-LAX-PHL-LAX at $471US with taxes.
-The RT above will yield just about 12,700 miles. Be careful. Go through the PHL hub. Use MileMarker (http://www.webflyer.com/milemarker/milemarker.htm) to calculate air miles. Note that the miles are not official to the airline and you may want to check with the airline for the miles that will be actually credited. You may want to try a routing that includes an extra segment through CLT or PIT on the way to LAX to be sure that you will get the needed miles.
Note that the above information about SWU's is based on past experience (US has only given them out for the last 2 years). They can change the program at any time.
