I need eight more segments by the end of the year, and am looking for the cheapest way to get them. Any suggestions for a segment run from ATL?

ATL-CLT-MYR RT is $95.25 - no overnight stay required. Thus, you can get 8 segments for $190.50. I'll keep looking and post if I find anything better.

If you'd rather visit SAV, it's the same price as MYR. However, SAV requires a Saturday night stay, unlike MYR (which doesn't even require an overnight). Both fares require a 14-day advance purchase.

Wow, I managed to find an even lower fare today - ATL-RDU (among other routes) just went on sale. Including all taxes, you can get an RT ticket (via CLT) for $83.50. Book two of these babies, and you'll have 8 segments for $167. No overnight is required, but you must book 7 days in advance.

Wow, thanks for finding this. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif That run to RDU is really great, and it will not just get me the segments I need but quite a few miles as well (less than two cents a mile, once bonuses are factored in...)

Let me know if you find anything better. It's nice to see someone else flying US out of ATL. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

No problem - I'm looking for mileage runs all the time (which is much easier on US from ATL than DEN, where I worked for a year before moving back to ATL in August). I'm not sure you can do any better than 8 segments for $167. Even with a two connection run, you'd have to buy two RT tickets to get 8 segments. I'd say grab the RDU fare before the apparent AirTran sale ends (which US seems to be matching).

I'm off to DFW via CLT tomorrow for a wedding - my ticket was $160. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Yeah, I found a ticket from ATL to BOS with two connections each way, but that still only yields six segments. Two r/ts is probably the best way...

Change planes three times each way, and you've got 8 segments.

ATL to ORD Sat. Nov 10, returning next day, for $183.50 total:

ATL-CLT US 2285
CLT-BWI US 282
BWI-PHL US 3494
PHL-ORD US 295

Leave ATL 6:10 AM, arrive ORD 3:36 PM.

ORD-PIT US 2320
PIT-BWI US 488
BWI-CLT US 1034
CLT-ATL US 587

Leave ORD 8:20 AM, arrive ATL 5:14 PM.

Thanks for this thread! I found a GSO-CLT-ATL same day round trip for $83.50 as well. Can anyone recommend a short hop that I could squeeze in out of ATL to pick up another two segments?

Thanks...

How about ... Greensboro, NC? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

That's a thought...since it would go back through CLT again, I'd end up with another 4 segments/2000 flight miles. There are worse things http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/thumbsup.gif

Has anyone spotted any cheap 8-segment RT fares from BWI (or DCA/IAD)? I'm going to need just 16 segments to make CP. The 6-segment flights are easier to find but that means I'll need three of them.

Sidestep used to come up with great wacky itineraries involving 4 segments each direction, but they don't seem to do that anymore. Now it's just 3 segments.

Can you figure a way to do this from ATL to BOS or WAS? I don't know anyone in ORD, but I have friends in BOS and WAS I could stay with overnight. I can manage to get six segments to BOS, but I can't find eight.

To WAS, you can fly ATL-CLT-PHL-PIT-WAS and back. $178.50 total (I checked only DCA).

To BOS, you can fly ATL-CLT-PIT-LGA-BOS and back for $183.50 total (also other routings such as BWI).

Hello US FTers,

Just my 2 cents worth, but I would NEVER plan a mileage run that involve any PHL travel (assuming that there are other alternative connections) based on my experiences over the last two years.

Agreed 100%. Sage Advice. Travel through PHL is a disaster waiting to happen.

</font>Too bad it is nearly becoming your sole choice if you are going to Europe.

Until I flew into PHL weekend before last, I would have agreed with this view. With the schedule cutbacks, PHL seems remarkably quiet (at least on a Saturday mid-afternoon). No apparent gate area congestion, or a/c waiting to cross runways/get into line for takeoff.......
