Hi, Can someone tell me how long it takes for the 800 mile upgrades to appear after each 10,000 miles? thanks.

It seems to be an average about 2 weeks or so. I am guessing that, like the Elite Status welcome kits, these 'upgrade mailings' get batched in the middle and end of months. I say this because almost all of the mailing dates on the letters I get are in the first few days of the month or around the 17th.

I would say the average is about 2 weeks or so. I got 2 batches in a row about 2 weeks apart (heavy flying in May).

If you don't get them within a month call the service center. They can tell you when they were issued.

Several weeks was my experience. Don't forget the counter starts at zero on March 1, so what looks like 10,000 Tier miles doesn't necessarily equate to hitting the milestone for DMUP01s.

Assuming that you maintain a status, don't the miles roll forward from one year to another? In another program, I flew about 2,000 miles and it was enough to earn me another accrual of upgrades.

Say what? I made Silver last year and this year I have 18,000 miles to date. You're saying that I wont get any North Amercian Upgrades if any of my 10,000 miles were before March 1st?

What's that matter?

As of March 1 of each year, your "counter" towards the next set of DMUP01's is 0 miles, any miles before then on your "counter" are lost.

The only reason I can fathom for the difference would be due to the fact that Preferred status expires on 2/28.

Speaking of 800 mile segments, while I was checking in at CHS yesterday, I watched a gate agent collect one. He carefully checked the date and the name to ensure that everything matched. Hadn't seen that done in quite a while...

As someone who just recently made Silver and then Gold by way of challenges, my questions are: when does the clock start (ie how do you know what flights have gone into the hopper for this purpose), and does shifting from Silver to Gold force a reset?

Here's a long delayed response to your question. I was actually searching for a thread to add this comment, since I just learned this today.

My wife made Gold with a challenge in May on a transcon. So she has had GP status since then, and even received the 100% flight bonus for that flight.

I track our miles and wait for upgrades to be mailed, I noticed she had not received some lately even though I had received some. When I called in to check, the Gold agent noted that the counter resets when you hit new status levels. So while she has flown more than 20k miles since March 1, her counter got reset AFTER the challenge-qualifying flight, and has only 9,900 since then. Her next flight will put her over.

Anyway, just adding this info in her for posterity.
