BA offered, for less than 24 hrs, RT E+ from any US destination to any European destination served for approx. $40. I booked one RT to Madrid and didn't tell any family member because I wasn't sure it would work. It did.

I might have the quantities by city wrong, but those were the 3 cities as I recall that I got. It gained me OW Sapphire IIRC, which came in handy when I got in (actually I believe I was the first to post it) on the $170 SFO-SIN deal on CX. And I believe it was Thanksgiving weekend 2000 when the UA $25 flights to Paris, etc. deal ran. Actually it was because of this one that I made a point to pay attention over future Thanksgiving weekends, which no doubt served many of us well in 2002! BiziBB Nov 27, 10, 6:40 pm I'll move this to MilesBuzz, since it is definitely not a Mileage Run Deal and is such a long time ago, that it's more of an anniversary rememberance. Cheers, BiziBB, Moderator Mileage Run forums YYZC2 Nov 27, 10, 7:06 pm I think AltaFlyer was the OP on that one... I was working a graveyard shift in the office of a cargo warehouse when it was posted... I took 8 co-workers to CAI, and also booked myself to CDG, HEL, IST, OSL, and a couple others I can't remember. I used the miles gained to fly CX F to JNB. Awesome deal. SanDiego1K Nov 27, 10, 8:27 pm Here's the thread on the deal - and look how few people responded. It was a much smaller board then. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/mileage-run-deals/274376-sea-hel-20-return-travelocity-now.html azepine00 Nov 27, 10, 8:43 pm I remember that - I just started lurking on FT and didn't believe it was for real. I learned to book first and think later shortly after. 84fiero Nov 28, 10, 1:13 am Wow that's impressive! Ah, why didn't I know about FT back then!;) eltonang Nov 28, 10, 5:58 am Wow that's impressive! Ah, why didn't I know about FT back then!;) I have the same question too. Wish that i knew about FT much earlier then. JohnWM Nov 28, 10, 7:26 pm Do we have any similar bargains on offer THIS year? dhammer53 Nov 28, 10, 9:25 pm Ah. The good old days. That night, my wife and I met a few Flyertalkers for drinks in Manhattan. We talked miles and points. ;) When we arrived home, I headed to the computer and read about this deal. It was 2200, and by then, all that was left out of New York was Cairo Egypt. This was the only time I regretted attending an event. It would only be a matter of time until the next one. In the old days, deals were rampant. ;) dh CMK10 Nov 29, 10, 2:07 pm Unfortunately when this came out I was at the tender age of 17 so I was unable to cash in on the promotion but I remember reading about it. :( It sure would have been great though eltonang Nov 30, 10, 9:20 am Ah. This way, all of us will be able to enjoy the company and at the same time signing up for good deals. Can't imagine how it would be like if a group of people scrambling for a single deal at the same place and time. It should be very exciting. No more regrets for attending any events. Wish that more good deals to come, soon. :) cheers, eltonang |
