Doing an early Christmas getaway to New Hampshire near Jackson and was wondering what places anyone would recommend checking out while I'm there (shopping, dining, museums, etc.) I know North Conway has a lot of shopping but that's all I really know about the region. :D

Just curious how you came to choose a getaway to someplace you know nothing about?

I'm sorry, was I actually supposed to visit a region FIRST before I can ask about what I can actually do there? I must have missed that in the FlyerTalk Junior Woodchuck Guidebook of what questions are appropriate to ask the forum.
Regardless, I chose it because I've never been to New Hampshire before and always wanted to visit the White Mountains. The area including Jackson and Conway was as good a start as any.

I thought it might be helpful to understand what attracted you to the area in the first place. In any event, in the spirit of FT, I've compiled the Definitive Guide To Things To Do In Jackson, New Hampshire (http://www.google.com/search?q=what+to+do+in+jackson+nh&rls=com.microsoft:en-us&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&startIndex=&startPage=1&rlz=1I7GGLL_en), just for you.
I'll be a bit more gentle with my response, going in the order you asked:
Shopping - You really can't do any better than North Conway. There's a little bit of everything, and mostly they're outlets with rock-bottom prices. For the most one-stop shopping, check out the Settlers' Green Outlet Village Plus.
Dining - In Jackson itself, I highly recommend the Shannon Door Pub. Awesome pizza, great atmosphere, and entertainment on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
Museums - To be honest (although it's been a few years since I've lived there), I'm not sure there are any in the immediate area. If there's snow on the ground, you can go to Cranmore Mountain and partake in skiing, snow tubing, or their new "Mountain Coaster". The only other "attraction" that's open is the Conway Scenic Railroad.

Shannon Door Pub, got it. The pizza is what sold me, lol.
I wanted to stay at the Christmas Farm Inn but they didn't have the rooms I wanted available. Shame, because I wanted to feel extra Christmas-y this year, although I can still go for dining. If you've ever been there, how's their food?
Can't wait. I'll be there 5 days and have a suspicion I'll like the state even more than I did Vermont.
Haven't eaten there myself, sorry...
But what you said about feeling Christmas-y gave me an idea. You can take an Austrian Sleigh Ride at the Nestlenook Resort in Jackson. You'll want to call to make a reservation, it's VERY popular. And maybe if the price is right you could stay there too... but I've heard it's expensive.

The Nestlenook is actually closed for lodging, the grounds may still be open but I've been reading a lot of complaints about maintenance letting things go. There was a note that they may continue renovations and reopen lodging in 2011 but it's uncertain. I'll probably pass by there just to see if the grounds are indeed open for use. :D

If you're still looking for a place to stay while you're there, check out Adventure Suites in North Conway. One of a kind hotel with different theme rooms, from a cave to a Hollywood room with full movie projector and a popcorn machine. Great place for a couple or the whole family.
They usually run specials on their facebook site so check them out on there.

Wow, they sound awesome. I'll definitely check them out!
For food when you're in North Conway, we like Moat Mountain Smokehouse. It's casual but very good. Flatbread Pizza is also good.
I'm not sure of the name, but the general store in Jackson is surprisingly good for a quick lunch. You order at the counter but they have tables. Also, I haven't eaten there yet, but Yesterday's breakfast is supposed to be excellent.

Thanks, I suspect I'll Jackson more because of its small town appeal over the busier Conway. :D
