What should I expect in F on PIT-LAX on a 767 that leaves at 6pm. Normal domestic service in Envoy seats? Ice cream sundaes? International blankets? Entertainment system?

If no one else posts, please post your experience after travel -- as I am going on the same route in November. I've never gotten ice cream sundaes -- even when flying Envoy transatlantic...

I'm pretty sure you'll get to use the 767 entertainment system, which is a choice of about a dozen channels in the in-seat video screen, with video you can't pause or anything like the A330.

You should expect the usual domestic First Class transcon service but in an Envoy class seat.

Ice cream sundaes are served on lunch and dinner flights (transcons) but not redeyes or morning. My guess is that you will get one.

Blankets? I dunno about that one.

The entertainment is a toss up. You will probably get the usual domestic transcon movie (and short programing). It is doubtful you will get the whole choice of films and programing the 767 offers on international flights in Envoy.

I took US 48 yesterday morning from LAX-PIT. The blankets were domestic, the "pillas" (to quote the lead FA) were "international". As far as entertainment goes, all of the movies loaded on to the flight were in French, so we didn't get to see anything on the four hour flight.

The entertainment is a toss up. Some crews do the domestic choice only, and some do the whole enchalada. Best bet would be to ask if they could do it. If they did not switch the plane out from the one that came in from LAX it should still have the movie choices on it.

I've done the PHL to LAX twice on the 767 route. Barely First Class service, in my opinion.

On the first trip, the Flight Attendants were so unknowledgeable about the aircraft, they couldn't even get the entertainment system to work. Return trip was downgraded to a 757 - wrote a letter to US complaining about the service on the 767 after that one.

Second trip my outbound was cancelled, and was routed thru Charlotte. Refused to book me on a flight two hours later so that I could still have a First Class seat - I was willing to in in the US Club for 2 extra hours ! Return trip was the best of the 767 service I had - breakfast flight from LA.

I have not had good experiences on my two trips - can't speak for the more frequent flyers on this route.

I flew the 5:55 pm PIT-SFO flight in a 767 last Christmas eve.

It was on my first ever upgraded itin (FRA-PIT-SFO), but FWIW, I thought first class on the 767 was good - plenty of leg room, and IIRC you could change the channels so they must have had the international offerings on. Ice cream sundaes served to my surprise and delight (this has become my favorite perk of first class travel). Flight attendants a little unfamiliar with aircraft but friendly and appeared excited themselves about the aircraft. The seats were great for an after-dinner nap.

Flying it today! on US 49. Crew usually does not know how to run the inflight entertainment, but when they figure it out its pretty good. Expect what domestic F is like, with bigger dishes and portions. Blankets are not the Envoy ones and flight attendants have a good ratio with passengers up fromt on the 767. If anyone is on that flight today on the board, I will have shorts on and goatee in First Class. Look me up!

Yonatan,
this is funny I love the ice cream sundae as well and see it as the main perk of domestic first. Guess Germans have a sweet tooth.

Great reports. Pitflyer, I will post a trip report. I couldn't decide between the PIT-LAX flight and the PHL-LAX flight(757). I wanted to do the dinner flight for several reasons. If I am going to fly transcon, I might as well get the best meal I can. I am doing it as a milage run and comming back the next day so the late flight is just too tiring. The clincher is the ice cream. I don't think the late flight has it. I choose the 767 from PIT over PHL because I wanted to try the 767 (I've been in the A330) but also the dinner flight from PHL won't have F availability. 3 weeks before the flight ITN showed F4 A0 G0. I've never seen that before. I guess that will be a high revenue flight. Now I just wait to confirm the upgrade and hope the FA knows how to work the entertainment system. Also, if they leave any international wine on board I will take care of it for them.

Just got off plane.. I am in the LAX club, and I did have not 1 but 2 servings of ice cream. Hagen Daz to be exact! Go 767.. no movies though, they could not turn on the video system as usual. They need to train the Flight Attendants to use the system!!

If they can't work the movies I will either help them or go way above the 2 drink limit. Two sundaes sound like a good idea.

It seems to me if I had the choice I'd take the 767 transcon, simply because the seats are still the same as Envoy; roomy and comfortable. Since different FA's seem to have problems with the audio video system I'd bring a book however, just in case. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Glad to hear it - I was wondering if it might be seen as juvenile on my part http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif.
