I don't like all of the recent valid for addressee only and especially the preregistered bonuses (very scary) that seem to be the new trend. I do know they will lose some of my business from it if they are enforced. During the 6/15-9/15 period where the 3x miles and Gold challenge was in effect, I will have taken 22 flights for 22+K miles. If these were not in effect I would have taken 6 flights for 3K miles. You could argue that they lost some $ on me since I bought some cheap flights and took extra segments but I actually spent $1500+. If the reason for the promo were to put butts in seats, then it worked. I am happy with the results and US should also be happy. Please let the bonuses continue.
