US Airways Dividend Miles (Pre-FlightFund Merger) - Very personal service in Amsterdam

Yesterday I was travelling from Istanbul on Turkish Air to Amsterdam, where I transferred to US 43. Upon arrival at Schipol, before anyone was allowed off the Turkish Air flight, an announcement was made over the PA for me and my companion to come to the front of the plane. There, we were met by a US Airways representative, who said she was there to escort us to our US gate (which was only about 3 gates down). At the US gate, she brought us ahead of about 30 people waiting for security, got us our boarding passes, and we got right on board. We were travelling on a confirmed Envoy upgrade (SWU) from economy. So my question: Why did we get such great service:

1) - Everyone gets it
2) - Our Turkish air flight was 10 minutes late, giving us a 45 minute transfer time
3) - I'm Chairman's Preferred
4) - The travel Gods were smiling

Great flight from AMS to PHL.

PS - Just to make it better, our SWU's were NOT collected!

PPS - Just to balance it out, our luggage didn't make the transfer!

Did US know you were inbound on the flight from IST? If so, the US agents handling the AMS-PHL flight were probably looking to see who had/had not checked in for the flight, saw a CP not in yet and then saw you were inbound on the Turkish Air flight. Wild speculation on my part...

BTW, welcome to FT. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

What was your immigration experience at PHL like?

Welcome to FT, it's great to have more people from the "other" bay area here (there are quite a few "tampons" on FT actually!)

Your CP status probably helped the most, plus the repoire the US agents must have with the agents greeting your flight to let them priority de-plane you.

Immigration was OK, since we were the first people off the 767 -- about a 10 minute wait for passport control. Since we didn't have bags (!) there wasn't much for customs to check.

Acutally, I've been posting to FT now for about two months, but thanks for the welcome none the less.

My return from AMS was very pleasant as well. The lass who checked me in was very courteous and knowledgeable in what she was doing (too knowledgeable in that she took my SWU!).

This topic came up in conversation with my seatmate, who was a CP, and did a bunch of European travel. It was his opinion that the US staff at AMS was the best in Europe.
