On a recent express flight our pilot declared an emergency and returned to the departure airport. We were advised to be ready to bail when the plane comes to a stop. Nothing happened. Well now comes the complaining resulting in limo 125 miles to my door step. A travel voucher for a free flight and a refund of the original plane ticket. Oh and lunch!

Maybe I'm missing something here, but what's the complaint? That the pilot landed the plane safely and without incident?

This is prob. the worst example of someone trying to scam the system for something free.... You were mad because the pilot did a excellent job and saved your life?

I need not say more about this subject

You have shown me the light...I'm sorry for the quasi scam, not intended of course. What should I do with the free ticket? I will send it back to US Airways. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Look - keep the ticket, after all, you'll have to book in capacity controlled non-upgradeable Z class (I think) - so choose what you use it for wisely. I think the consensus here is that if you complained after the pilot made an emergency landing, that's bad form (I agree) - and I think those statements probably could have been expressed in different ways. But, US took care of you (no idea why) so just enjoy it and move on.
