US Airways Dividend Miles (Pre-FlightFund Merger) - Is this routing allowable?

View Full Version : Is this routing allowable?

I'm considering a trip within a 2 day period to make status. I was curious though if the way I've built my ideal routing would be allowable under US Air rules.

I'll use fictional dates and won't mention the real routing. Each one-way routing will include one or two connections. This is to make status by segments, not miles.

Roundtrip ticket purchased going from Point A to Point B on the morning of 10/1 and returning on evening of 10/2.

Another ticket purchased going from Point B to Point C on the afternoon of 10/1 and returning to Point B on 10/1.

A third ticket purchased going from Point B to Point C again on the morning of 10/1 and returning to Point B on 10/2.

Then the return portion of the first ticket from Point B to Point A would be done on the evening of 10/2.

The only problem I can fathom is that the first ticket isn't completed before the second and third trips are completed. The first ticket requires a one night stay at Point B and that would be accomplished the way the tickets are configured.

Usually end-on-end ticketing is allowed (the fare rules will say so). Going back to the point of origin on another ticket would make it a back-to-back, which could be a problem with roundtrips #2 and #3. But it's hard to say whether #2 and #3 are back-to-back because your times make no sense. How do you fly from B to C in the morning, and then fly from B to C again in the afternoon? (same problem on the returns)

Also, a roundtrip with a "one night stay" doesn't mean you have to be at that round trip's destination overnight. End-on-end ticketing means your one night stay (or Saturday night stay) from two round trips is done at the same time, namely the destination of the second round trip. The problem is if you spend the night at home, then it becomes back-to-back, which is not allowed.

So, for example, you could fly A to B, B to C, and C to D on 10/1, spend the night, and then fly D to C, C to B, and B to A on 10/2 (three round trips each with a one night stay.)
