I'll admit that I am a HUGE Iron Chef fangirl, and the episode with Ron Siegal is one of my all-time favourites. As I'm fortunate enough to be in SF for a while, I definitely want to hit up the Ritz! But I really want to do it while Ron's in the kitchen.

Does anyone know which nights RS is actually at the Ritz? Is he there on the weekends?

I promise I won't make any embarrassing displays :)

I've only eaten there once, it was a fantastic meal, and he was by the restaurant entry shaking hands of the patrons as they were leaving. Four hours well-spent. Simply call to find out.

I agree. Call to find out. When I ate here, it was excellent food. Probably not the best food ever, but it's quite excellent. Personally, I think Michael Mina and Gary D are better, but the Ritz is quite good.

When you sit down, they wheel the champagne cart to you and offer you a glass of champagne. Of course, one does not ask for the price, but you get it at the end. A glass of champagne from that cart is $26 to $50, just so you know.

Michelin starred restaurants in the San Francisco Bay Area have consistently disappointed me, including the Restaurant at Meadowood (I ate there the week after it earned its third star), Ame, and the Ritz-Carlton Dining Room. I really feel that Michelin lowered the bar for New York, and then lowered the bar even further for San Francisco. To give Meadowood three stars but only two to Le Cinq is a scandal! :td: I can't believe that Charlie Phan was shocked, shocked!!!, that Slanted Door didn't earn a star for his overpriced and overrated food when the first Michelin guide came out

I really do feel that the Michelin starred restaurants in SF really don't hold a candle to the ones in NY. I'm thinking Daniel, Jean-Georges, Le Bernardin.....

18 years ago, I had my first dinner at the Ritz-Carlton Dining Room when Gary Danko was the chef. Now that was a splendid meal!
