I was told I would be given some miles due to a broken seat tray on an international flight. How long does it take for those miles to post?

They usually tell 3 days, but sometime it takes less than that to post to you account.

Think when I got some extra miles for a problem it was 3-4 days after getting an email from them (long enough for me to finally quit checking every 15 minutes, lol)

The flight was on Tuesday of this week so that is 4 days. The lead flight attendant gave me the miles. Do they post/record those miles when the flight ends or on the flight?

I'm a little confused when you say they gave you the miles. Usually, when you have a complaint about something, you call or write in, and they give you compensation. Did the flight attendant give you some kind of a receipt that says you're going to get some miles, or a voucher you have to mail in? Is this something new that somebody else can elaborate on?

Yes, they said it was a receipt that I could keep for my records. It was red if that means anything and had the flight and date listed as well as the bonus miles.

You choose whether you'd rather have miles, $$, etc. Has only happened once when my seat was broken in Business/1st. Two part form, so I kept the back copy/receipt. Is this what you rec'd? It took at least a week & I followed up with an email.

Yes, that sounds like what I have. There was no offer of $$ which I would have prefered as I have another international flight planned for early next year. I will wait until Tuesday which would be a week and see if it shows up. Thanks for the help!

Still no miles in the account. I sent an email and they said they did not have enough information. I sent the number on the receipt, my ff no., the date and flight number and seat assignment in the email. Requested to send in the receipt by snail mail to Atlanta. Is this a glitch or do you usually have to "fight" to get these bonus miles?

I'd utterly refuse to send in the receipt, citing they would likely loose it. Scan it, email them with the attachment and ask them if they plan on giving you anything else for this waste of your time. If that doesn't work, call them and ask to speak to a supervisor then ask them if this is how guests are treated regularly..

I can understand verification, but it's SkyPesos for crying out loud. Any of us can make a sob story up to have them thrown at us but having to email multiple times and mailing in your only evidence is way out of line.

Sorry, my tolerance for ignorance is sub-par.

I wouldn't send the "receipt" if that's what you have. Did you give the FA your name and FF number? I've sometimes been given a computer generated "receipt" printed on boarding-pass paper by DL staff in an airport, but then it seems to appear in my account within about a day (maybe the second overnight sweep?).

However, for problems that are addressed on board, IME the purser gives out a "service recovery packet" consisting of several attached pieces of pretty think paper (blue for BE) that are about the size of an ipad. There's a numbered form that you complete and mail in to DL (make a copy first) and the miles and/or ecert are added to your account. (For PMNW, it was a smaller red and grey packet and you could call the elite line, give then the cert number, and have the miles added to your account instantly when given a similar document on board instead of mailing or faxing the paper.)
