US Airways Dividend Miles (Pre-FlightFund Merger) - PHL-SJU on the A330
I see the 330 is on the schedules pretty regularly between PHL and SJU(down at 8:30AM, returns at 2:10PM). Does anyone have more info on how upgrading works? 2 certs for a coach-envoy? Anyone get lucky enough to get bumped from coach to F with certs??
How are the odds for actually getting the upgrade?

As far as I can tell, and maybe I'm misunderstanding your question: Preferred certificates (NA upgrades) are for North America only, and cannot be used for the Caribbean. You can upgrade to the Caribbean, on the A-330 and others, via:
30K Miles at purchase; a Caribbean Space Positive Upgrade, issued by Sales, Marketing, and other offices in the airline; a Customer Service upgrade designated for Caribbean; and of course, with the wonderful Systemwides, should one not be traveling to Europe.
I'm on the A-330 on Saturday 6/30 in Envoy. And I can't even IMAGINE how long my record must be, from the number of times I've tried to claw my way into First. Any suggestions from those exeperienced are appreciated! :-)

On the back of the North American Upgrade certificate it states that "North America includes the Continental U.S., Canada, Mexico, Bermuda and the Caribbean."
My geography is a little fuzzy, but I'm pretty sure the Carribean islands are part of North America.

As everyone else has said, the NAUs are valid for the Caribbean - but they won't get you first on a 3 class aircraft - as it expressly states from Coach to Envoy. In fact, I think someone has posted that US will only use the F seats for those going on to Europe - and thus they're not available for our use.

What if you are traveling paid F and your segment on the 330 is in Envoy? Can you upgrade to F w/ NAUs then?

Just flew that very flight yesterday. Although I didn't have any way to get bumped up (this trip will get me Silver), Envoy was pretty empty (maybe 6 out of 24 or 30 seats filled.) Coach, on the other hand, was full. Can't tell you about F.

Here's what they say:
"This certificate entitles you to a one-way, one-class upgrade for travel up to 800 miles on US Airways within North America. For example: from Coach Class to Envoy Class or from Envoy Class to First Class."
So they say both.
As to the rest of your question - I have no idea.
And curiously enough, that makes post 333 - which is what US occasionally has called their 330.

So there is actually something I DON'T know about upgrading on US! Thanks to all of you for pointing out my faux-pas about NA upgrade certs! I was told by a gate agent two years ago that these certificates were not valid for Caribbean upgrades.
Two things are amazing about this...but not surprising. First......ONCE AGAIN frequent travelers know more than the airline's own employees.....and Second......ONCE AGAIN I would learn so much more if I actually read the fine print. :-)
