US Airways Dividend Miles (Pre-FlightFund Merger) - Double Dipping For Miles

I fly from bos to ord often (with the connection through pit or phl). The last couple of weeks my starting flight was canceled and I was rerouted on American directly from Bos to Ord. I always call Usair a couple of days later and get credit for the miles as if I had traveled on USAIR. My question is if I used an American ff number on the rerouted flight would I lose my ability to get USair credits. According to someome in the DM center, I would lose the USair miles but am curious what has happened to other people when they are canceled and rerouted on a different carrier.
I've been rerouted from a LGA-NW hub-SFO itinerary to JFK-SFO on UA a couple of times, and I was never told that I would NOT get NW credit if I DID get UA credit.

When you check in for the American flight simply give them your AAdvantage number and you'll get credit. Then, call US as you have been and simply tell them that your flight was cancelled and you are calling to get credit for a cancelled flight. There's no way for them to know that you got credit on American unless you tell them. To tell the truth, I've never had them ask me and I've been reouted dozens of times and gotten credit on both.

Thanks for the info. I'll double dip next time. I had the feeling that the DM representative was just giving me a standard answer. Up until this time I have been afraid to try it as I need every flight segment I can get to keep prefered status as I only fly for leisure.
