So does this mean if I go online and order (5) $100 gift cards but do them in five separate transactions with my user name I will get the 2,500 bonus points or $10 gift cards five times?

2500 bonus points can be worth a lot more than $10. I've stayed for 16000 points, which is 6.4 times 2500, at a hotel which was charging $149 + tax (and I didn't have to pay the tax either). But 6.4 times $10 is only $64! Now, that hotel has now gone up to 20000, but still, that's 8 times 2500, and 8 times $10 is still only $80.

Is there a moderator in this forum? If so, I would recommend changing the thread title to reflect the 2500 bonus points option. (Some people who would be interested in the bonus points might never read a thread which seems to be only about gift card rewards.)

Right. Even if you exchange the points for miles. It's 5K points for one southwest credit, so 2,500 points is basically 1/2 WN credit. Even though WN credits have been devalued, 1 WN credit is still worth about $20.

Yeah, thats what the Travel card customer service told me and hope it is true!

That's why I asked about a moderator. Once a thread has replies, the OP can't edit the title that shows on the front page, only a moderator can.

I don't think so, not unless you can enter your BW card number online (since that's how you have to prepay, theoretically).

However: Some apparently prepay BW rates may not be prepay in reality, if you book at the last minute away. For example, when I book an Internet Only rate that appears to be prepaid on the afternoon of the stay, they still ask for my credit card at check-in, so maybe it wouldn't be too late to give them a gift card then. (But keep in mind that they don't tend to process the gift card until hours later at many hotels, since it's time-consuming and thus they only want to do it during a slow time. So just because at check-in may not be too late doesn't guarantee that hours later it's not too late.)

But I've only used a gift card at one hotel so far, and it's hotel which doesn't have any prepay rates (which are any lower than the AAA rates I qualify for, at least). So I have no first-hand experience with trying what I justed talked about.

Thanks. Some of these GCs work like CCs and work on pre-pay rates as well if the $$$ amount is less than the card value.

I get screwed as Canadian when purchasing BW gift cards back in Aug... And will not fall into the same trap again...

Called BW to complain, after I think two CSR, they "refunded" my lost in CAD->USD->CAD exchange rate in a gift card.

What they explain to me is that how their system setup. If I use a Canadian Visa or Master Card, it will be charge in CAD directly... I was like ...?! :mad:

Does anyone know if the billing address has to be a US one? I don't live in the US but a friend can receive mail for me (currently they have a 5% promotion in Sweden). So the US offer is much more attractive.

I think this is more an Amex issue than a BW one. Had the same problem, with the same resolution. However, the exchange rate when using a CDN$ BW card in the US is actually quite good, so in the end you don't lose anything.
