I've just had to cut back a forthcoming trip to Copenhagen to one day. I had booked 71 Nyhavn as I was planning to spend most of my time at the ballet (which I'll still be attending on my one evening there) and have been wanting to try it for a long time (it was sold out last time I was in town). But with the Priority Club "Sweet Dilemma" promo on, I'm wondering if I shouldn't switch to the CP--even though it's a lesser property and less convenient for my day in town, I'd earn half a free night (which I'd hope to use in Paris or London) and be close to the airport for my 7 am flight the next morning. I'd be interested in FTers' views on that, but also have the following questions:
If I DO stay at 71 Nyhavn, what's the best way to get there from CPH via public transport? How long would it take? What options would I have for an early Saturday morning return to CPH and how much would a taxi cost?
If I stay at the CP, I'd want to dump my things on arrival, head into town, then come back before the ballet to change and get my binoculars--how long would the metro ride to get me to the theatre take? Sounds like a one-day pass would make sense; does anyone know if they sell them there (as they apparently do at the Hilton)?

Is the ballet performance taking place at the Operaen at Holmen, or at the old theater on Kongens Nytorv (Gamele Scene)?

For the Operaen:

From 71 Nyhavn, the best (and dramatic) way to reach the Operaen is to take the Harbor Bus (Lines 901 and 902). The departure dock is very close to the 71 Nyhavn's front door, and you arrive at a dock adjacent to the opera house's entrance area. The trip takes about 3 to 4 minutes :)

If you elect to stay at the CP, take the Metro Line 1 from Ørestad Station (adjacent to the CP) to the Christianshavn station. As you exit to street level, you will see a bus stop on the street-side. Take bus #66, which takes you directly to the back entrance to the Operaen.

For the Old Theater:

From 71 Nyhavn, walk.

From the CP, take the Metro Line 1 to Kongens Nytorv station. Exit, and you are at the theater. When returning to the hotel, be sure to take Line 1, rather than Line 2 (which goes to the airport, not to Ørestad Station).

Never having used the M1 Line to Ørestad station, I'm not sure about the timings between the hotel and the center city, so I'll leave that for other FT'ers to answer. However, as for the day pass, you can buy it at the DSB counter in the T3 arrivals area just before you head over to the hotel.

More on the Harbor Bus (schedule, note that evening trips are added when there are performances at the Operaen):

The "24-hour Copenhagen City Pass" is quite a bargain at 70kr.You can buy it from the railways desk in at the airport - right hand side in T3 after baggage claim and customs.
The City Pass covers the airport area ,including Crowne Plaza, as well as the centre of Copenhagen. Its valid on the Metro, busses, S-Trains,The Harbor busses as well as any train between the airport and the city.

Thanks to both of you. The ballet is at the Old Theatre.

Any idea how long the trip to the airport would be if I stayed at 71 Nyhavn?

And is the pass good for 24 hours or for a calendar day? If I buy it for example, at 9 am on December 3, can I use it at 7 am on December 4?

There's a trip planner on the Movia site that should help you chart transit times. It's been a long time since I took a cab from airport to the center city, but I don't think it took more than 20-25 minutes (in light traffic).

(Also, I should mention that cph-flyer has taught me a lot of what I know about getting around Copenhagen - his/her accurate and patient explanations of the nuances of CPH transit have been invaluable to me and to others, and I thank him/her once more for embodying the best of the FlyerTalk spirit of helping others) ^^

Yes , you can use it the following day. You just have to validate the card in one of the yellow punch machines before using it the first time and the pass will be timestamped.

I´d say about half an hour to get to the airport from Nyhavn71. Nearest metro is Kgs Nytorv ,right next to the Royal Theatre with "Gamle Scene" . Some 10 min walk to the metrostation from the hotel and then around 20 mins metroride to the airport.

That's about what the Movia website shows. My flight is at 715 am. Do you have any idea how much a taxi from the hotel to CPH might cost?

Should be around 250 kr and take some 15-20 mins.

So for what I think is my last CPH question, if I am not checking any bags and have printed my BP in advance, how early do I have to be there for my early morning (BA) flight?

CPH_flyer, thank you again!

CPH_flyer, thank you again!

You will of course have to check the info from BA on your ticket regarding latest check in time, but assuming they start boarding around 6.45 for your 7.15 flight and you have to allow time for security and passport control and walking to the gate, I´d say not later than around 6.15 .
