Doing an MR on UA and need to buy a gift for my wife. I'd like something from the area/region, so that probably leaves out Hermes, etc. Any suggestions of specific airport shops to look in, or gift ideas?

Gift idea: I'd suggest Royal Selangor pewter. It's made to a high standard and in my experience has led to suitably impressed friends who I've 'presented'. To be frank it's a Malaysian product so the prices and selection is better there, but I'm going to take a chance and say that you'll find that the price in Singapore is fair, even with the weak US$.

(BTW small tip - if you have to buy at the airport, shops in Terminal 3, which is where UA's gate is located, is absorbing the GST at least on groundside.)

Thanks for the suggestion, however, due to delayed flights, resulting in misconnects, I had zero time for shopping.

If you visit Jurong Bird Park or Underwater World, a marine park, you'll be able to visit some souvenir shops and there are some good stuffs for presents. I bought a snow ball and a dugong doll at the Underwater World for presents for my sister and she loved them.

There is a nice gift shop in the Crowne Plaza Hotel, attached to Terminal 3. Take the doorway near the train station on Level 2 (Departures), walk past the hote l restaurant and take the elevator down to the lobby.
