markbach,
Although I too got the email about the online booking bonus, the way in which it is awarded differs slightly from the way you noted it in the first post. Rather:
Bonus miles quoted above include the standard 1,000-mile online booking bonus and 7,000 additional miles for the third online booking.

huh????? when do i get the bonus? After each flight? After all 3 flights? What if I only fly once?
Bonus miles quoted above include the standard

Whoops, didn't see that. You are right, biometrist. So its only a 7k bonus. Still a good deal.

Now the standard question -- can you get this bonus multiple times? I know I got the 10k bonus several times last year... Quite a deal considering the cheap tickets I bought as status runs http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

ok, i just called DM Customer Service. The rep checked with her supervisor, who had to call headquarters, but here is what they told me:
all flights must be booked and flown by 6/30/01
you get the bonus miles (3k or 4k) after each roundtrip, NOT after 3 roundtrips
this bonus may be repeated as many times as you like
you will get 3k even if you book/fly only once, 6k if you book/fly twice, etc,
essentially, it boils down to they are raising the 1k bonus to 3k until 6/30, with an additional 1k bonus after every 3 trips.
Hope this helps clarify for everyone.

I assume that the flights must be booked on or after 1/25/01 and that flights booked online before then ar not eligible for this bonus.

What's going to happen to the bonus if this merger gets rammed through by April 1st? I bet dollars to donuts United won't honor it.
(Unless it would cost them money to change the software in the USAirways Div Mi system, THEN they'll probably honor it...*L*)
As an aside, though, I'm considering throwing my allegiance over to Delta as at least when I make Platinum with them (easy to do from a 'spoke'), I'm back to unlimited upgrades. As it looks like a lot of West Coast business coming up this year, I'm not real keen on fighting for upgrades out of O'Hare (or flying through there in any class.)
Still have some time to decide...Wish something would get definitive, though.

The bad thing about Delta is if you fly on cheap fares you're in trouble. But if you don't I think it's a great option for US travellers -- especially with all those disgruntled DL travellers leaving and making room for US http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I post this because I find it interesting that US Airways sent out two different emails...essentially describing the same offer in two different ways. Notice the part in bold (as compared to the email/phone call explanations others have gotten).

This doesn't seem to be public on their web site. Do you need to have received this email to be eligible for the bonuses?

I received the same offer that you did biometrist. Maybe the different offers were sent out based on the level of DM status (I have none) http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif
Do you happen to have status on US markbach? That's the only explanation that I can think of for the different offers. My offer doesn't give a bonus until the third booking, and the other offer gives a bonus for each of the three bookings. Any other thoughts on this one??

RE: Status...that's an interesting question. I was wondering that myself, however I have Silver Preferred status on US, so it would seem that I would be getting the other letter. I sure don't know. I guess the only thing to do is book a flight and see what happens.

I guess that I will just have to wait and see if I receive 1,000 or 3,000 bonus miles on my next US flight. I would think that it would be difficult to distinguish between the groups of individuals who received the two separate emails, especially since this bonus offer doesn't require registration. How would the computer system know which email the person received?

I don't know either if this offer is only available to those who got the targetted email form letter, and the DM service center is closed for the weekend. As for the question of how they know which letter, the computer could very easily flag/document/identify your account as having the promo added to it when it ran whatever program that picked accounts based on the criteria. I think US has some kind of promotion screen for each account, and it shows what promotions you have been signed up for by the computer, or which one's you have registerred for. Though usually the offers say something like "this offer is only intended for the recipient," and thie above details do not reflect such a disclamer, so I guess I will soon find out as I have three trips booked Feb/Mar on US.

Well, I don't know about getting the email or not getting the email and the why's and why not's behind it, but I do know this...
You can get this promotion (3K, 3K, 4K) by calling US Airways Promotion Registration at 800 872 4738 and entering bonus request number 2281.
How do I know this? Because I just called Dividend Miles to ask if I could get this promotion from this email that my "friend" received. The rep asked me for a bonus request number. I told her that I didn't have one 'cause I the email didn't specify one, but I described the promo to her. She said, "Oh, here it is. It's bonus request number 2281. Earn 10K miles for booking online--3K for the first two bookings and 4K for the third booking at USAirways.com. You're all set, sir."
So there ya go. If she's right, then you can all get this bonus using code 2281. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Mar 30, 01, 4:37 pm
FWIW, I have also only seen the normal 1000 miles posting to my account. So, I gave the service center a call. Here's what I found out:
Bonus 2280:
Receive 10K bonus miles for 3 online bookings, 1K for the first two, and 8K for the third.
Bonus 2281:
Receive 10K bonus miles for 3 online bookings, 3K for the first two, and 4K for the third.
If you were somehow registered for both promotions, then you will be defaulted to Bonus 2280, which is 1K, 1K, 8K.

Back in late January, I registered for the bonus code 2281 (3k miles for the first, 3k miles for the second, and 4k for the third online booking).
I subsequently made two r/t flights -- one on Feb 6, and one on Feb 22. I ended up emailing USAir on 3/31 about the posting of the bonus miles, and today, I had 4,000 miles posted retroactive to the date of the flights (2,000 each r/t flight). The initial 1,000 mile bonus posted with the mileage for the flights.
I don't know if it was just coincidence that the bonus mileage posted right after I emailed or not. I'm just glad the bonus is now there.
If anyone is still waiting, you might want to email them.

One thing I have noticed is that when you email the Service Center for Mileage Adjustments (aside from taking about 2 weeks nowadays for anything to happen) is that they do not send response emails if everything is ok with your request.
For example, if you asked them where your bonuses were for those 2 flights, and they saw no problems and just added the mileage credits, they adjust and do not say anything back to you.
So I would guess its not a coincidence. They're just not informing people that adjustments were made anymore. Some bean counter probably realized they were spending xx precious minutes per day letting us know that adjustment were made, and could have instead made yy more adjustments with that time.
I am still waiting for either a response or an adjustment from an email I sent in mid-March.

Yes, I email DM service, a few days/week passes and changes are made, but no confirming email from DM. Oh well, at least we get the miles.
More importantly, Have we figured out how these are being posted. 1/1/1+7, or 1+3/1+3/1+4 or 3/3/4? Has anyone received the bonus and how? I emailed about my online adjustments being missing and a 1K online bonus appeared. I did mention 2281 but alas, no response.
Others?

The bonus is 3,000 for the first and second round trips, then 4,000 for the third.
Keep in mind that it's actually only a "7,000 mile bonus" because they include the original 1,000 miles you get for making the reservation online. So you should actually see two 2,000 mile entries, and a 3,000 mile entry if you take three flights.

How long is it taking to get these bonuses? I flew on 4/20 and 4/22, the flights have posted but the bonus hasn't yet.

After about a month, I ended up emailing USAir about the bonuses because they weren't posted. Somewhere I read that the miles would be posted within three weeks of flight completion.
The miles posted within about 2 days of my email. You can email USAir through a "form" on their website to submit questions about missing miles. That is what I used.
