I am interested in upgrading on a flight from PHL to AMS in september. ITN showes the plane is an old 767 and from seeing pictures of 767's envoy seats they seem to be a little outdated with only a 55 pitch ( used to DL BE with 60 Pitch) . Does anyone know if there are any plans to refurbish the 767's with the A330 C seats? and what should I expect from the old C seat ?
Thank you for your thoughts

Refurb is unlikely, pending the merger. If they become UA 767's, then eventually. Otherwise, I doubt it.

Having flown Envoy on a 767 and A330, yeah- the A330 is a nice experience, but I find the diffrence between 55 and 60" of pitch minimal. The meal service is the same(quite good). The entertainment on the 767 is like most intl. carriers with personal video that runs from 8mm tapes on a schedule(compared to on-demand). See my post for more specific info:

I've posted this before. I honestly believe the 767 seats are more comfortable. The 330's are noticeably narrow. Some of that may be all that equipment they have on them, which is nice, but may be a little overkill.

I agree with deelmakur. I experienced the 330 Envoy seat for the first time last December and couldn't get comfortable. I remembered the 767 as more comfortable and confirmed it last month on a trip to Munich.

I haven't flown the A330 Envoy seats yet. But I have the 767 in Envoy. While the seat isn't nearly as high-tech as Delta or Continental (entertainment, electric seat controls, etc.) I thought it was actually more comfortable.

Service itself is the same on the 767 and the A330. But reportedly cabin crews prefer the 767, so they'll likely be more upbeat and happy. Also, the 767 has at most 24 Envoy passengers compared to 36 on the A330, so the service will be less "assembly-line" like.

Enjoy your flight!

I find the Airbus seats more comfortable, but then, I am not likely to find any business class seats (other than AX) to be too narrow.

I just flew to Frankfurt this past week in Envoy and found issues with the seat comfort also on the A330. I didn't get a great night's sleep mostly because my legs were somewhat uncomfortable. It's hard to explain, but it seemed there was a pressure point on the seat on the area just behind my knees where the seat cushion ends and the foot rest begins.

Other than that I thought the seats were very nice. Enjoyed the adjustable headrest (forward/back, wings, height), and ajustable footrest. Didn't like how the tray table was quite low in my lap even when siting straight up.

The entertainment system is boffo. However on the return to Pittsburgh my first two headsets were busted. I really like the noise cancelling, however it seemed the volume didn't go down enough when it was on, a bit too loud to fall asleep to.

The food and service were excellent.

That is exactly what I was talking about on the 330 Envoy seats. The front edge of the seat cushion is high and hard - it hit me just above the back of my knees. Never could get comfortable.

And you're right on target about the tray - whether it's a high cushion or a low tray - the thing rested on top of my lap rather than on the armrests - and my legs aint THAT big...

Give me the "stone-age" 767 Envoy seat anyday.

Its interesting you guys are discussing this since I flew r/t to LGW on a 767 out and 330 back. I don't remember any problems on the 330. Then again, I was probably too busy tinkering with the entertainment system to notice the seat itself. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
