US Airways Group, Inc. reported today a net loss for the first quarter of 2001 of $171 million and an operating loss of $228 million. The net loss for the quarter on a diluted per-share basis was $2.55.

Of course, UAL lost $305 million during the first quarter. So, it makes the most sense that US Airways and United Airlines will be more profitable as one. Count me among the people who moved from USAirways because I had no intention of being an United customer any more than absolutely necessary.
It does not seemed to have occured to USAirways that while some people are captive customers, that that isn't enough to make a profit on.
