InterContinental Hotels: Priority Club & Inter-Continental Ambassador - New to IHG - need advice about signing up + a night near Heathrow

Hi folks.
I'm not currently a Priority Club member but I'm looking to join a hotel programme where it's relatively easy to earn points other than by staying at their hotels and PC looks to be the best (unless you know different?)
Also, I'm looking to stay near Heathrow on Friday 26th, leaving the car there until Monday 29th, and I see that the four Heathrow ICH hotels all have packages which would fit the bill.
From a points perspective, what is the best way to sign up (any current referral bonuses?) and book this one night, bearing in mind I've no other hotel nights planned for the foreseeable future. Would I benefit from signing up to any current promotions?
And which hotel would you recommend, both in terms of the appeal/comfort/service of the hotel itself and access to terminal 1? Wouldn't need breakfast as will have BMI lounge access. The choices are HI West Drayton, HI Ariel, HI M4Jct4 or Crowne Plaza Heathrow.
Thanks!

The best way to get started is by signing up under the refer a friend progran and get 5000 points when you stay your first night and your friend will also get 5000 https://secure.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/pc/1/en/enrollafriend?secure=true&DPSLogout=true
(cut and paste this into your browser) and if you need a refering friends priority # pm me and I will send you mine lol or if you have a wife or significan other have them set up an account. then sign up for all the bonus on the bonus page on this thread and you should be able to get 15000 to 20000 on your first night stay. As far as the better hotels it has been my experience that the Crowne Plaza's are that little bit better quality if you dont need the free breakfast at HI

CP Heathrow is at West Drayton - take main line train to West Drayton, to avoid using the tube) then a local bus from the station will take you to the hotel - get off at Cherry Tree Lane Schools (or similar name)
It is then a short bus from the hotel to the airport - should be a shuttle service.
The hotel itself is very good, and is the one I choose for Heathrow stays,

HI heathrow and HI Ariel are both in the free zone for local transit
HI Ariel has been refurbished fairly recently and is quite nice but rooms are
small, haven't stayed at the other HI

There are lots of New Member bonus codes in the first part of the promos thread. Sign up for all these, you should get about 9000 bonus points on your first stay, depending on how many are still valid (warning - could be a lot less!)
As a UKer, there is also a link to get 25000 points for getting the PC credit card, as opposed to the usual 10k. The link is in the first post of the Tesco thread on the BA board.

I could move!! But that link does also say "register their referring member’s number in advance between March 1, 2010 and May 31, 2010". Has anyone had any success in using it post 31 May?

I don't think that's going to work for me because I stay so rarely in hotels. Thanks for the thought though.
