San Francisco - Recommendations for great seafood restaurant & good valueView Full Version : Recommendations for great seafood restaurant & good value sggolf Nov 11, 10, 2:53 pm Have an overseas friend in town who likes seafood but wants good value. Can anyone recommend some good seafood restaurants for dinner in SF area. Thanks! squeakr Nov 11, 10, 3:22 pm If you're looking for price breaks, that's a different question than just getting value for $$. I don't eat seafood BUT I have been to several dinners at Thanh Long in SF, famous for their crab dishes. They have several locations all run by the same family. Price varies A.Q. but it's always plenty of food. sggolf Nov 11, 10, 3:34 pm I guess not fast food inexpensive but reasonably priced so it can be expensed. So probably $20-$40 per person. Didn't know if any of the Dine on the Town programs were in place yet.... squeakr Nov 11, 10, 4:47 pm I guess not fast food inexpensive but reasonably priced so it can be expensed. RichardInSF Nov 12, 10, 12:43 pm How about Sam's or Tadich's? 8dimsum Nov 12, 10, 10:43 pm How about a Cantonese restaurant that has fishtanks filled with a variety of seafood--shrimps, lobsters, rockfish, ... Fresh steamed fish with a soy= ginger, a touch of sesame oil, thin scallions ...mmmmmh ditto for a large clam I am thinking about Mayflower Restaurant (Geary/25th avenue) SF or the Great Eastern on Jackson St. rjque Nov 13, 10, 11:40 pm San Francisco does not have much in the way of seafood focused restaurants, yet this has to be one of the most common questions I get from out-of-town guests. My recommendation for eating in SF would be to skip seafood focused places and go to what SF does very well: mid-range California cuisine. That said, if I had to choose a seafood focused place, I'd probably go to Woodhouse Fish Company. biggestbopper Nov 15, 10, 3:43 am Try the Sea Salt on San Pablo in Berkeley. @:-) And, the Buena Vista has very good seafood for the price along with that Irish Coffee! :D |
