Spain/Portugal/Gibraltar - new bus: Madrid Barajas to Atocha StationView Full Version : new bus: Madrid Barajas to Atocha Station CZBB Nov 11, 10, 2:17 am http://www.emtmadrid.es/lineaAeropuerto/index.html Roger Nov 11, 10, 3:41 am Thanks for this. My Spanish is not great, but I see this is a 24-hour service and costs just €2, the lowest price airport transer in Europe. It looks like excellent value. The Cibeles stop mentions the Prado and other museums. I wonder if it would be good for the InterContinental Hotel. railways Nov 11, 10, 3:48 am Thanks for this. Palal Nov 11, 10, 6:10 am What about travel-time wise? Would Metro=>Cercanias still be faster? Rooo Nov 24, 10, 12:11 am Thank you so much for this; it is so timely. I'm supposed to go to Madrid in December -- that is, if I ever get out of New York, in the face of this TSA insanity -- because I have a ticket for Roger and Rafa's match for "Unidos para la Infancia". I believe I'm supposed to be staying near Atocha station, and I was concerned about how I would get from Barajas to Atocha, so this is very very helpful. It's a bright Yellow "EMT" bus, driver could even make change from a 20 (it costs €2). And... Free WIFI on board (seriously!) zerogx Dec 23, 10, 10:54 am Back from Spain, back from trying the bus. I saw this bus stop near to Banco de España as well. However if you bought a metro tourist pass, it doesn't cost extra to go to the airport so why not save the 2 euros :p I still think the N9 in London is the cheapest way to get to an airport from city center. :| Roger Dec 24, 10, 10:25 am I still think the N9 in London is the cheapest way to get to an airport from city center. :|:) Every 20 minutes through the night between LHR T5/LHR Central (for T123) and central London, connecting at Trafalgar Square with other night buses. http://www.londonbusroutes.net/times/N009.htm jbalmuth Dec 24, 10, 6:44 pm :) Every 20 minutes through the night between LHR T5/LHR Central (for T123) and central London, connecting at Trafalgar Square with other night buses. http://www.londonbusroutes.net/times/N009.htm What's the fare from LHR to cental London? chrissxb Dec 25, 10, 1:57 am thjs is not rail specific, please follow this thread in our europe forum. regards, chrissxb moderator european rail travel Seat64A Dec 25, 10, 3:49 am Whilst welcoming the new service (especially its 24 hour character), there is a downside to the changes which EMT have made to its airport services. There used to be separate routes from the Avenida de America bus station to T1-2-3 and T4. Although these have been amalgamated, this service (at 1 euro) represents excellent value, especially if your final destination is near the Avenida de America interchange. For me, using it also means avoiding the very walk from Terminal 1's customs' exit to the metro station (and the fairly long walk to platform 8 at Nuevos Ministerios to get the Renfe Cercanias train if I want to go to Sol). Roger Dec 26, 10, 6:35 am What's the fare from LHR to cental London?According to http://www.visitlondon.com/travel/airport/heathrow-airport, it's £1.20 with an Oyster card or £2 without. (But bus fares increase next week.) It would be free with the all-in Oystercards. |
