Apparently trains from ICN through to Seoul Station will be running from Dec 29th 2010 onwards. At the same time check-in facilities will become available at Seoul Station.

Travel time is predicted as "40 to 50 minutes".

Yes, I'd take it next time as I travel light. The Courtyard I was at in Sept. was on line 1 so it would've made for a single connection at Seoul Station to get to the hotel. ^ Thanks for sharing. :)

Express train would take 43min and full-stop train would take 53min as I already mentioned in this thread. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/asia/1136064-7-8-hour-layover-seoul-icn.html

We were through a few weeks ago. Took the 'deluxe' bus from Seoul Station to ICN, but I'll be looking forward to the train next time.

It has taken a long time for that to open.

I would dearly hope for late evening train departures from ICN. At the moment, after the last limousine buses depart at around 10:30 pm, you are pretty much left the choice of taxi only.

If they could manage at least a 11:30pm last departure, that would be a real benefit.

I know, seriously. there's like no nightlife in Korea. Public transit shuts down at, like, 9.

Well, as you know the Seoul subway pretty much shuts down from midnight to 6/7am, so a bit sceptical about the AREX late night options too.

And yes, there are a few scattered nightime bus options but that mostly entails either changing to another night bus or then hailing a cab to getting to your final destination.

I thought that normal Seoulite transportation after enjoying nightlife include taxis, hiring one of those leased drivers or drunk driving. ;)

But daerioonjun requires that you own a car ;)

The New York City subway may smell like piss, have rats crawling in and out of the trains, be 100 years old, and cost $2.25 a ride, but at least you can catch a blood train at 3 in the morning.
