US Airways Dividend Miles (Pre-FlightFund Merger) - Will Lifetime Miles Transfer to UA?

Hi everyone --

Well, as we continue to try to figure out the merger, a friend of mine brought up an interesting question...

I know that US really doesn't track lifetime miles towards million-miler status in an official "program", but will UA be getting that information from US and (hopefully) using it to help reward/retain the US frequent flyers?

Thought this was an interesting question -- anyone have any insight?

I doubt it very much.

If this is the case, would it make sense to transfer mileage to AA to get million miler status there? For example, instead of cashing in awards on US in 2001, fly AA metal using only 1000 AA miles per award and the balance being Dividend Miles. I already booked two 60K awards and got 119K bonus miles added to my program miles total on my current AA statement although I have yet to use the ff tickets. I also am planning to zero out my account with 3 fc rt to NRT for 375,000 US ff miles, which if I fly AA, will help substantially toward me getting two million miler status there, even tho I'm losing 50K DM because only 325K AA miles are required for same. Is there any other downside to this, for me as a 0 miles in my account CP'er when I to go over to UA? I'll have to start my UA million mile run from 0 anyway, right? There is the slight possibility they would recognize actual miles flown with US, but I'm sure the ff mileage I've accumulated or spent will not impact that amount. Comments welcome!
