US Airways Dividend Miles (Pre-FlightFund Merger) - those crazy airfares!!

This is a true example of how messed up the airfares are.

I need to travel from BWI-CAE for a meeting Feb 2. The r/t airfare from BWI-CAE-BWI is $800+ with no Sat. night stay. Well, I also need to get to Vegas to cash a winning ticket, so I decided to play around with my business trip. Get this: By flying BWI-CAE-LAS-BWI, the fare goes down to $425. So, I still get to go to my meeting and I get a nice diversion to Vegas for a 22 hour visit. I'll be home by Sunday morning. AND to top it all off, I was able to use a US20 upgrade for the Vegas segments. Not a bad milage run, and I look good by saving my company over $400.

That's because Southwest flies BWI-LAS, and they don't care which night you stay over. US matches that. (In fact, most routes touching LAS don't require a Saturday night stay, even if WN doesn't fly them, but often require a stay of two nights.)
