US Airways Dividend Miles (Pre-FlightFund Merger) - Waitlist to Dom. Envoy with connection, priority rules ?

I am doing MHT-PIT-LAX and return. It looks like the outbound PIT-LAX will be a tricky upgrade. If I have to waitlist the day of departure, will I go on the list at MHT or only when I get to the gate at PIT ? I'll check in in MHT about 2-3 hours before the PIT flight.

My question assumes what I read is correct, i.e. first come, first served in those matters ? Thanks.

If you are unable to immediatly confirm yourself in First Class when you call at the one day mark (I realize it is an envoy cabin, but it acts as First Class for this purpose), you will be placed on a waitlist that theoretically could clear before you even get to the airport. When you first check in (in this case at MHT) you will be moved to the Airport Waitlist, if you still haven't cleared. The agent will likely lift one cert for your MHT-PIT segment, attach a connection segment to your PIT-LAX boarding pass. If you don't clear, you don't get any upgrades back. If you do clear in PIT, you will only need to hand over two upgrades, rather than three, since one was already handed over in MHT (US bases upgrades on journey not segment).

As far as the Airport Waitlist goes, it generally goes first by status then by time. Thus a CP checking in well after you will be ahead of you, but you will be head of most others golds, since you will be put onto the Airport Waitlist in MHT, much earlier than the PIT golds.

Great answer! Thanks, that is exactly what I wanted to hear.
