Hi there,
I don't know if anyone has came across this situation but I will ask anyway..I'm holding a nonrefundable, discounted USAir tkt from SFO-MIA but cannot use the upgrade coupons sold thru them because it is a discounted fare and my Dividends status is not high enough to allow me to apply it to any fare. Is there such a thing as a "complimentary upgrade coupon" that is issued as a sales/promotion perk by US? If so, anybody knows where I could obtain one of these? Perhaps buy it from a reliable air broker or thru other means? I would appreciate any input. Thanks.

I have not seen any coupons that would allow for a regular Dividend Miles member to upgrade a discounted ticket.

There is the option of using 20,000 dividend miles to upgrade a discounted domestic fare to First Class.

Thanks geo. I think I would be saving those 20,000 miles for a B/C to Europe on SN. That way I could go to any city in Europe plus BRU as an added bonus.

One possible tactic to try is to ask a frequent flyer who has spare upgrades and who is flying your route to upgrade you in return for your vouchers? Not likely but worth a shot.

Good idea, terenz...I would give it a try but I think is very unlikely. I guess I would try to resort to plan B and see if I could "schmooz" the gate agts. It's amazing the things one can get away by being nice and polite. (and I am not drop-dead gorgeous model, mind you).

heh, if you're female with the right attitude you can get away with anything http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

(I can just hear my wife complaining in the background...)

Good luck!

Thanks dg1. I think all of us can get away with it.

Fair enough. My comment is based on a recent experience (see FlyerTalk trip reports) where I watched two girls sweet talk into first class right on the plane. I'm sure the sword cuts both ways however.
