US Airways Dividend Miles (Pre-FlightFund Merger) - US Airways - Red Eye Flight

Hello Everyone
I'm a new member to this bulletin board. I can across it about a week ago and feel like I struck gold!
Okay, here is my first ever question:
I will be flying LAX - ALB on US. I had enough miles to get 2 roundtrip tickets (FC) for me and my traveling companion http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif I was curious as to what kind of service I can expect? The trip from LAX - PIT is a red eye with a "snack" listed as the meal. The return PHL - LAX is a "lunch" flight. The connectiona to and from ALB had no meals listed.
Thanks to everyone in advance for your information. I will be sure to post a full trip report when the trip is over.

As LAX-PIT is a red eye, the snack offered is a cold plate. Nothing stunning, and to be honest, last red eye I flew, I passed on the snack in favor of getting that much more sleep (I recommend all the sleep you can get). You should (although this varies) have a pre-departure drink offered. And even though most folks in F will be sleeping away, but if you need anything, the flight attendants will be responsive - considering that their charges are sleeping the flight away. You'll have headphones, blanket, and a pillow - so you can watch the movie - or just ignore it and sleep. I always find the F seat to be better for sleeping in than the coach seat.
As for going PIT-LAX - lunch is better if it's on the airbuses I've noticed. You'll have about 3 choices for meals, along with nuts along with you drink, pre-meal (depending on departure time). As for when your meal orders are taken, I can never remember if it's back to front eastbound or westbound (others will know this, I'm sure). Service is much better than on a short haul in first. Hopefully you'll enjoy it.
On some flights (right now one flight PHL-LAX and occasionally CLT-LAX (and soon to be PIT-LAX)) US will use the 767 on the route. If you have the chance to take it - do it by all means. You have the Envoy seat - thus much more room to stretch out in, and you're on a widebody, instead of a 757/319/320 (of course, they're good ships).
Enjoy your trip.

Meal order taking is front to back on the westbound and back to front on the eastbound.
CLTFlyer is right about the service. The red-eyes are for sleeping so the cold plate service is nice but brief. Sleep is more important. The westbound PIT-LAX lunch service will be much better. You'll probably just get nice drink service on the short hauls in and out of ALB. And by all means, use the flight schedule feature on usairways.com to see if your flights in and out of LAX can be on a 767. I love the A-319 and 320 FC seats but the Envoy seats on the 767 are much nicer. Enjoy and welcome to FlyerTalk - USAirwaysBoy !!!!!
Don't expect much on the redeye. I didn't get anything on my redeye LAX-PIT.. however, I did fall asleep so maybe they did serve something relatively late into the flight. I wish they'd rather serve a light breakfast before we arrive, but no such luck.
As per meal orders, it never happens according to plan at least for me. Every time I'm on a USAirways plane they serve it differently with no pattern.

Thanks to everyone for your valuable information on my upcoming trip. I would like to fly on the 767-200, but I'm concerned with seat width. I've read, both here and on the US Airways web site, that the seat width on the 767 is only 18.5 inches. The seat width on the A320 is 21.0 inches. I'm not a small guy, so I really would like the extra space. I would, however, like the opportunity to try out the Envoy seats.
I guess I'm torn on this issue. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

No way the A320 economy seats are that wide. Most international business class (and many first) class seats don't make it to 21"! I think the method of measurement was not consistent.
As for westbound transcontinental flights, my F experience was that the dessert was served after the 1/2 way point of the flight, a few hours after the meal service had finished!
As for taking orders eastbound on the redeye, it was from the front but there weren't too many takers so I don't think you'd have no choice.

terenz, USAirwaysboy1971's referring to the FC seats, I think. The Airbus a-319 and 320 seats are 21".
And, USAirwaysboy - trust us on the 767 Envoy vs. A319/320 FC seat thig - regardless of one's "size" the 767 Envoy seats have tons more room. There really is no comparison.

Geo, now that makes sense. FWIW, I find the F seats on the 757 & 737s wide and comfortable enough albeit old and dated. The MD-80/DC-9 and F-100 seats are of course narrower due to the narrower fuselage.
As for Envoy on the 767s, 6-across doesn't come close to 5-across so you'll get narrow business seats (same as on AA's 767s) but a lot more leg room.

Fortunately, I only see them on shorter haul flights. I did have a great flight on a DC-9 coming from Manchester to DCA. A wonderful flight attendent made the flight very enjoyable.

Domestic FC A320 Pros:
--A few inches wider
767 Pros:
--TONS of legroom (The Airbus probably has about 40 in, more or less. The 767 has 55!)
--Recline into a sleeper-style seat (Airbus probably reclines a couple of degrees. 160 degrees on the 767!)
--PTV on the 767
--Widebody
--No matter how big you are, the seats are very comfortable and spacious. No need to worry here.
The DC-9/F-100/MD-80s are falling apart. The FC seats are a joke. Coach is worse.
