A quick question for the forum:

I'm trying to book a flight NYC - SJO through SAL. UA codeshares all the way through, on TACA and LACSA metal. The connection time in SAL is only 57 minutes, though - does anyone have experience connecting between TACA and LACSA flights in SAL? Do you need to clear customs or is the connection time feasible? Also: if I miss the connection, who's responsible to get me on the next plane - UA, or TACA/LACSA?

Thanks for your help! Mods - if this is in the wrong place obviously feel free to move it to the appropriate forum.

No worries. SAL is an easy airport for connections. You don't go through immigration or customs because you don't officially enter El Salvador. You just walk to your connecting gate and your bags will be transferred for you.

Technically speaking, there is no Lacsa airlines anymore. It was absorbed into Taca a few years ago. Your SAL-SJO flight will have a Lacsa flight number but it will be on a Taca plane with a Taca crew.

I've found Taca to be very good about making sure that its connecting passengers make their connections. It should be fine. :)
