If US shuts down, will US Airways Express still be flying? I called up reservations and they said the Beechcraft (they have no F/As) will still be flying. But aren't all the Express F/As on a separate contract?

Is it true that the Beechs will still fly? I know NWA shut down Airlink when its pilots struck even though Airlink pilots were willing to work.

You have to remember than some 80% of US Express passengers come from connecting US Airways/MetroJet flights, so if those passengers are not coming, it may be unprofitable to run the flights, even if the crew is willing to work.

Regardless, what is happening with the possible strike it up in the air. Not sure yet whether it will blow over (unlikely) or shut down the airline entirely. I've heard that the board and majority stockholders are watching Wolfman carefully and if they're not pleases with his performance, they'll vote to kick him out. Probably not true considering the great things he's down with US, compared to Seth Sethfield (?) or other past CEOS?

I agree that Express will probably shut down. But I called US reservations and was told that the Beechcrafts will be flying because they have no F/A. (So what...the Express F/As are under a different contract.)

So I emailed Commutair (one of the US Express affiliates here in the northeast) and was told they were not sure. But US handles their ground work, so I think if US is shutdown that Express won't be running.

Why isn't US straightforward about this and make a decision about whether Express will be running? On the same token, why don't they just settle the contract now, before they lose too many bookings.

If the mainline shuts, so will the feeders. I personally believe the F/A's will go out. The key is whether other employee groups honor the walkout. If not, they will be replaced and the line will be back flying by May 1.
