In the mail yesterday I received a package from WN thanking me for 3 years of membership in Rapid Rewards. I thought I had been a member longer, but my first WN flight was in Oct 2007.

In addition to a card with at least a dozen signatures of names I didn't recognize (i.e. not Gary), there was a nice Southwest Rapid Rewards luggage tag. It's soft rubber with the WN logo on one side and a personalized paper insert viewed behind clear window, which matches the size of a business card. Considering I focused all flying to AA since February, I'm very surprised at the gesture. Prior to that I had been flying almost weekly on WN, but never reached A-List. I switched exclusively to AA with few credits short of the 32 required. I've even passed on 5 months of double credits this year via our SWABIZ account promo!

Ironically, here's my breakdown of 2010 spend on routes where WN and AA fly:

WN: $ 655.30 (free luggage tag)
AA: $6,973.40 (with Gold/Plat status, thin plastic luggage tag still costs $20)

They gave me one of those one morning at HOU just because they were being nice.

Looking at mine right now. I must say it is big improvement over the one they sent last year. It is flexible and the band that connects it looks stronger.

The last one they sent was a joke. The first trip through a TSA bag X-ray machine and the thing fell off. It is currently attached to my luggage via a zip tie. Hopefully this one will last longer and it was a nice thought.

Got one yesterday for 5 years. It was a nice package, I was kind of disappointed it wasn't full of drink coupons.

Saw one of these Monday am at SNA on some guy's carry-on; WANT! (But while I've been a RR member since 2006, this is really the first year flying them with any frequency, so I guess I'm not getting one)

I wonder if mine will be an invitation to get stampeded and crushed under the scrum when in the F/Zone 1 queues at US.

I'd rather have an extra drink booklet. I have dozens of luggage tags of every imaginable description.

Took my first WN flight in 99 and never received one. I have only had one paid flight (DTW/MDW) RT flight in the past year but still got enoguh credits for CP status this year.

No gifts for this RR member since 1995.

Conversely, American did send me *6* luggage tags this year (3 for being Exec Plat, 3 for Admiral's Club member).
