In the mail yesterday I received a package from WN thanking me for 3 years of membership in Rapid Rewards. I thought I had been a member longer, but my first WN flight was in Oct 2007.
In addition to a card with at least a dozen signatures of names I didn't recognize (i.e. not Gary), there was a nice Southwest Rapid Rewards luggage tag. It's soft rubber with the WN logo on one side and a personalized paper insert viewed behind clear window, which matches the size of a business card. Considering I focused all flying to AA since February, I'm very surprised at the gesture. Prior to that I had been flying almost weekly on WN, but never reached A-List. I switched exclusively to AA with few credits short of the 32 required. I've even passed on 5 months of double credits this year via our SWABIZ account promo!
Ironically, here's my breakdown of 2010 spend on routes where WN and AA fly:
WN: $ 655.30 (free luggage tag)
AA: $6,973.40 (with Gold/Plat status, thin plastic luggage tag still costs $20)
