Wyndham Rewards - Totally confused on member numbers

Hi,
I used to be a triprewards member and then I was changed to Wyndham so I had a number that ended with a J, When getting ready for a trip I checked online and my number now had changed to once ending in a C, but then there was a "By Request" number starting with VL. On Checkin at Super 8 I gave them the one ending in C, but nothing is showing up and I need it for the US Air Promo. I have written them, but what is the difference in the regular and by request numbers?
