Choice Privileges - Checking in as a guest

My friend book an awards reservation under his name and has me down as a guest in the room. Will I be able to check in without him present or would it be easier if he changed the room to my name?

Is your friend staying in the room? If yes, then have him call ahead and tell the hotel. If your friend is not staying, make sure your friend calls the hotel and tells them that you are his sibling.

It should be no problem.
