Southwest Rapid Rewards - Difficult SWA destinations with std awards

Has WN programmed even further restrictions on standard award inventory to many destinations? I'm not talking about major tourist destinations in Florida, or Las Vegas, but more "routine" destinations, such as Austin, Texas.

I recently had to convert two standard awards to a freedom award to fly into Austin, and even though diligently watching for a standard award to open for almost a month, down to the day of the flight, wound up having to use the freedom award each way.

Now, looking into the distant future (June 2-3, 2011) at the end of the current booking inventory, I see most AUS flights already closed to standard awards. In checking various manual booking of each trip leg scenarios, it appears that the short segments DAL-AUS or HOU-AUS are where the standard awards are often unavailable, yet many flights still show awards available on most flights from outlying points into either DAL or HOU. Most people would not burn an award for DAL-AUS travel, but if that last leg is blocked out, it also precludes longer standard award trips such as STL-AUS or LIT-AUS.

What gives? :(:(

My experience is exactly the opposite: intrastate Texas flights almost always have std awards, even 1 day out. Long-haul (SAT->BWI, SAT->LAS) are the ones that appear capacity controlled and go quickly.
