I have heard many different opinions on this question.

As foriegner (USA Passport) do I have to pay this 19% tax on my hotel bills?

(JW Marriott, Sheraton Tambo del Inka)

Thanks for the quick response. I am here now.

BTW - The JW Marriott is GREAT. and the fitness room is one of the best I have used.

No, as a foreigner you will not have to pay that 19% hotel tax. It might still show up on your initial folio but if so they will manually adjust your folio to take the extra 19% off at check-out upon presentation your foreign passport.

I didn't know about the less than 60 days requirement and can't imagine how a hotel would be expected to enforce it anyway (assuming you were in country for > 60 days but not all of them at the same hotel).

You are asked to show the TAM (Tarjeta Andina de Migración, the paper landing card that you get when entering the country) with your passport and they are supposed to check the entry date stamped in the card.
