InterContinental Hotels: Priority Club & Inter-Continental Ambassador - IC Amb free weekend night certificate question

Has anyone been allowed to use the one weekend night free certificate on the same weekend day of check-in?

We plan to use the certificate as follows:
IC San Juan, Puerto Rico
Check-in on a Sunday, Dec 12 and check out Dec 16. Can I still use the free certificate to be reimbursed for the Sunday?

The fine print is so rigid in its use of the free certificate. Any advice is most appreciated. My cert expires Dec 2010 so I get this one last shot to use it.

Thanks in advance.

The fine print is pretty obvious, isn't it? Two nights, checkin Friday or Saturday. The second night is free....

Well T's & C's are pretty clear on this that the voucher can only be used on the 2nd night, however I was away with an ambassador last week who managed to use his certificate on the day he checked in exactly like you want to do. Difference was that my friend needed to check into the hotel at 6am but his room was not going to be ready until 2pm and they accepted his voucher for that night (6am - 2pm) I think this was a mistake on the hotels part anyway and was not the norm so therefore I think you may have trouble trying to achieve what you wish to do.

Yep, I understand the "fine print".

But, thanks to Goonerfish! At least it's good to hear of some examples of where it could happen (at least on an error).

I was hoping to hear of stories where AMBs were cut some slack from the T&Cs but sounds like it isn't the case.

Thanks again y'all.

After reading the entire BOGO thread today, I believe it is safe to say that exceptions are made all the time in all types of situations. But in no way are they guaranteed. It seems you may be out of luck without checking in fri/sat. I hope things work out.

Thanks for your reply CokeandTaco. (esp. that you've read that entire thread! :) )

I did try and call up the AMB cust support line and after quite a bit of going back and forth with them, they did say, "sometimes allowed" at the discretion of the hotel manager onsite but YMMV.

But yeah, no guarantee what-so-ever.
