Choice Privileges - Good Deal or Not?

Recently stayed at a Comfort Suites, great hotel, totally remodeled, free delicious breakfast, high speed internet, good location. Everything is top notch. My biggest 2 pet peeves with hotels is 1- bugs, and 2- dirty towels/bedding. I was very happy that neither of those 2 were problems, until the last day.

I woke up the night of the check out to a HUGE earwig bug on the wall. I quickly took a picture of it, and after some times went downstairs to talk to the manager. She informed me that the hotel gets sprayed once a month, and that she is very sorry for the discomfort it could bring me, and she offered to comp me a night stay at any choice hotel. Since she said she can only give out vouchers to this certain hotel, she said she would put 20,000 points onto my choice privilege account, which would be enough for a one night stay.

What do you guys think?

I could very quickly turn those 20K into $200 savings, since a hotel where I do a lot of work is an $80/8K hotel. I'd be more than happy with it.

I'd take the 20,000 points ... that is worth in my travel anywhere from $150-250 atleast in stays.

Hey guys. Quick quetion. I am waiting for my hotel stay to be posted on my mileage plus account. I contacted choice and they said that the 250 miles will be posted. I was shocked! The 3 night stay which was about 350$ in costs only yielded 250 miles. Is there anything I can do?

I don't think so. If you choose FF miles, each stay at a Choice property nets 250 FF miles, or .5 RR credits if you prefer Southwest. For a longer, more expensive stay, Choice Rewards points might have been a better deal.

Sorry to hear about your situation. 20K points is a very generous offer in my opinion. I have 60 nights in the bank this year with Choice Hotels and the most points I've ever been awarded for a problem is 8,000. That's enough points for a free night at some properties, but ot all. Just the fact that you didn't have to fight for the points like I've had to do is a HUGE victory. Take the points and look for a bug-free hotel to enjoy with your free points.
