It seems they are just simplifying it. Upgrade points are also going up a little too which sucks.

Dont forget their other exciting news!

1.Retroactive flight mileage registration on ANA international flights and Star Alliance partner flights will become much easier!

ANA Mileage Club members can apply for retroactive flight mileage registration on ANA international flights and a part of Star Alliance partner flights through ANA SKY WEB. So far members need to send necessary documents, but the application will be easily done through the WEB.

■Eligible flights: ANA international flights, Star Alliance Partner flights

■Service Launch: April, 2011

*Retroactive flight mileage registration for ANA domestic flights is available through ANA SKY WEB.

*Services for Star Alliance partners will be introduced step by step. Service detail will be announced before the launch.

REALLY exciting change...how often you need to claim retroactive miles

I have a feeling this has something to do with all the double mileage promotions NH has been running this year (or should I say forced to run due to JAL's promotions)

Ah, I've had to do retroactive claims twice this year for connecting flights because the check in staff didn't plug in my FF number to the 2nd leg.
(Yep, I should have checked if the FF number was properly registered on the boarding pass, but somehow I was in a hurry and didn't)
